Overview:
Inspired by the Mangonel, the Coelian was designed as a support mech and
anti-aircraft unit.

Capabilities:
The Coelian was intended to replace older mechs such as the Rifleman and
Jagermech in the direct fire support and AA categories. A pair of LBX
autocannons was mounted on the torso rather than the more classic arm mounts,
providing a much stabler firing platform, to achieve a high elevatoin both
autocannons are fitted to a single mount which can elevate as high as 90° from
the vertical and depressed up to -15° of horizontal. Ammo feed is through a
flexible armoured dual feed tubes meaning a much faster reloading time and
doing away with the need to reposition the weapon in between shots. The
targeting computer gives the Coelian increased pinpoint accuracy for the
conventional autocannon ammo.

The Coelian mounts an SRM4 and ER Small Laser for self-defence at short ranges.
This leaves the Coelian to remain in close proximity to an ammo supply though
it has a very generous 6 tons of LBX ammo at its disposal.

The size and weight of the guns precluded the use of an XL engine, leaving the
Coelian with a rather slow top speed of oly 53 KPH. Since it is only meant for
support rather than front line attack, this is not considered to be a
significant weakness.

Battle History:
The Coelian was only recently assigned to Lyrian units and they have yet to see
a major engagement. Original plans include a deployment of one lance per
regiment attached to the HQ element for AA work and additional security.

Deployment:
The Coelian is currently exclusively available to Lyran units though small
production runs will be made available for export in the near future.

Variants:
No variant currently exist. One proposed variant would drop both autocannans
and targeting computer for a pair of Heavy PPCs which would do away with the
ammo dependency, though it would mean a major increase of the mech's heat
burden.

Its a passable AA mount. I would not want to be in it if my lines where being over ran.
Why argue if the glass is half full or half empty, when you know someone is going to knock it over and spill it anyways.

I was a Major *pain* before
But I got a promotion.

It already has major weight issues that would just make it worse
