------------------------------------------------------------------------------
==Overview:==
With the success turning the Banshee BNC-3S into a typical assault mech,
Defiance Industries set about using similar concepts to make the Atlas to an
even fearsome design.

==Capabilities:==
Like the BNC-3S, the Atlas's Vlar 300 fusion engine is downgraded to a Nissan
200, slowing down its top speed to a mere 32.4 km/h. To make up for its slow
speed, the Atlas's weapony is reconfigured for more medium to long range
capability. The arm mounted lasers are upgraded to Large lasers while the
autocannon, SRM, and LRM are downgraded one class each respectively. To
compensate for the higher heat and allow the Atlas's more consistent
bombardment over it's enemy, the heatsink count has been upgraded to 30.

==Battle History:==

==Variants:==
So far, Lyran commanders has given the AS3-A negative reviews, simply due to
its slow speed. Most other mechs can simply outrun it before it can bring its
long range weaponry into play.

Following up on the commentary recieved, Defiance Industries is attempting
fieldtesting of a different model designated the AS7-RS, keeping the original
300 rating engine and the AS3-A's weapon loadout at the cost of the rear
mounted lasers and only having 20 heatsinks.

And then I noticed the AS7-RS. What a buzz kill. Instead, I'll just leave it as the inspiration for the AS7-RS

Hmm. 2/3 kind of gets into the range "too slow to be useful." In a lot of terrain, you find yourself only advancing 1 hex per turn and have to run just to turn 180 degrees.

The weapons are nice, though I think they're a bit over-sinked since you can't use all weapons together (the LRM is probably going to be quiet when the medium lasers and SRM are firing). You could probably shed 2 to 4 heat sinks to upgrade the LRM launcher since this design is short of long-range firepower.
