Hey Guys,
>
>Alot of people have different views of things that go on in this world, and
>some of them anger me and cause me to take action, while others I just
>ignore because they are just too far beneath me for a responce. But this is
>something I have had feelings on for years. I have read many things about
>what Jane Fonda did during the Vietnam War and it saddened me to think that
>someone could be so blind to what was happening over there and allow
>themselves to be used in such a way. Now my father was a Marine over there,
>so I decided to asked my father about her this morning before he went to
>work. Now my father is a very mellow person these days and he has slowed
>down with age, but the look he gave me almost made me take a step back. He
>told me, in no uncertain terms, to never bring up the name of that traitor
>again in this house. I do not think Jane Fonda should should be on the list
>mentioned below and should be removed. I plan on following this up and
>finding out for certain about this planned event and if she will be
>honored.

>I agree!!
>I usually don't forward stuff like this. Occasionally a joke, to evoke a

>the writer is correct, we should neither forget, nor honor such people.

>NEVER FORGET!!

>Times change...Memories remain!

>Unfortunately many have forgotten and still countless others have never

>The first part of this is from an F-4E pilot. The pilot's name is Jerry
>Driscoll, a River Rat. In 1978, the former commandant of the USAF Survival
>School was a POW in Ho Lo Prison-the "Hanoi Hilton." Dragged from a

>clean PJs, he was ordered to describe for a visiting American "Peace
>Activist" the "lenient and humane treatment" he'd received. He spat at Ms.

>From 1983-85, Col. Larry Carrigan was in the 47FW/DO (F-4Es). He spent 6

>His wife lived on faith that he was still alive. His group, too, got the
>cleaned/fed/clothed routine in preparation for a peace delegation" visit.
>They, however, had time and devised a plan to get word to the world that
>they still survived. Each man secreted a tiny piece of paper, with his SSN
>on it, in the palm of his hand. When paraded before Ms. Fonda and a
>cameraman, she walked the line, shaking each man's hand and asking little
>encouraging snippets like: "Aren't you sorry you bombed babies?" and "Are
>you grateful for the humane treatment from your benevolent captors?"
>Believing this HAD to be an act, they each palmed her their sliver of
>paper.
>She took them all without missing a beat. At the end of the line and once
>the camera stopped rolling, to the shocked disbelief of the POWs, she
>Turned
>to the officer in charge ... and handed him the little pile of papers.
>Three
>men died from the subsequent beatings. Col. Carrigan was almost number four
>but he survived, which is the only reason we know about her actions that
>day.

>I was a civilian economic development advisor in Vietnam, and was captured
>by the North Vietnamese communists in South Vietnam in 1968, and held for
>over 5 years. I spent 27 months in solitary confinement, one year in a cage

>Fonda was in Hanoi, I was asked by the camp communist political officer if
>I
>would be willing to meet with Jane Fonda. I said yes, for I would like to
>tell her about the real treatment we POWs were receiving, which was far
>different from the treatment purported by the North Vietnamese, and
>parroted

>on a rocky floor on my knees with outstretched arms with a large amount of

>I had the opportunity to meet with Jane Fonda for a couple of hours after I

I've heard of some bad things done in history, but her actions are just F***ing sick. This is the first time I had heard of this and I find it to be one of the most horrific acts ever. God that makes me sick.

Because of the particular earnest-I'm-telling-you-the-utter-truth writing style of this letter, the use of an explicit name on the letter ("look, you can verify me, so you don't need to look at all") and the way this particular post has ended up in my e-mail in-box before it was posted here, I'm inclined to look at this as an internet urban myth or internet slander until someone posts links to corroborating, unbiased sources.

***Don't get me wrong: I know Jane Fonda went to Vietnam on a peace-seeking visit and thereby ENRAGED a good portion of America. I know her actions came across as betrayal to many Americans, especially soldiers, because she sought peace and bad-mouthed the military for doing the job. But that same kind of anger is exactly the sort that leads to web slander about Nike (notorious for use of child labor) using the skin of human infants in its Air Jordans and Microsoft (evil for many reasons) will pay you $35 for forwarding a chain e-mail to a dozen of your nearest friends.

So, I suppose I should ask, did Jane Fonda actually visit POW camps?

Thank you for the link. A fabricated chain e-mail like that seems so unnecessary - the truth about Jane Fonda is contemptuous enough.
