Overview:
By 3090 Randam Mechwerks was on the verge of bankruptcy. With their production
capacity all but wiped out during the Jihad and a reduced post-war demand for
new Battlemechs, the company faced closing, if not for the timely intervention
of Uncle Bob's Mech Workshop, a mysterious company allegedly based in the
Periphery. The Workshop bough an interest in Randam and provided it with the
resources to consolidate itself and produce new mechs that would make Randam
profitable again.


The first of a new series of Randam designs was the Knockdown, a light scout,
raider mech with anti-infantry capability.


Capabilities:
The Knockdown was designed mainly as a fast scout and raider. Using a light
engine, an endo-steel skeleton and light ferro-fibrous armour to save weight to
mount a pair ER medium lasers, twin machineguns and a small X-pulse laser. To
protect the mech from ammo explosions the Knockdown uses CASE II, while a
supercharger and triple-strength myomer allowing it to maintain higher speeds
in adverse conditions.


The Knockdown features state of the art electronic packages that offer advanced
sensor and targeting capabiliities short of having to resort to heavy and bulky
actve probes and targeting computers. Combined with the compact build and
slightly reduced signature the Knockdown can sneak and move into constricted
areas other light mechs cannot and is less conspicuous to enemy sensors.


Overall the Knockdown is a potent light scout, capable of hit and run,
anti-infantry work, scouting, interdiction and raiding.


Battle History:
The Knockdown was sold to most Inner Sphere players. Though not designed for
protracted fighting it performed adequately in its intended role, the
supercharger and TSM proved to be nasty surprises to those who thought they had
sprung a trap on the Knockdown, only to find the situation reversed.


In one engagement a Knockdown fought and destroyed a Clan Locust IIC with a
well placed TSM enhanced kick, destroying the hip actuator, allowing the
Knockdown to finish off his opponent at leisure. Another engagement put a
lance of Knockdowns against a Hellhoud and a Wraith. The Knockdowns resorted
to hit and run attacks using hilly terrain to cover their approach and wear
them down until the Hellhound was knocked down, the Knockdowns moved in for the
kill, in the resulting brawl one Knockdown was destroyed, while the Wraith
being unable to shake off its pursuers surrendered.
