Overview:
The Vernichter or "destroyer" in Steiner German fills the same niche as the
Warhammer. Much of the Lyrian Alliance production capacity was laid to waste
after the Jihad and the Vernichter was rushed into production to help fill the
depleted ranks of the Lyran military.


Capabilities:
The Vernichter has one simple task, to engage and destroy the enemy. To this
end it carries heavy armour, and powerful weapons and an XL engine gives it a
top speed of 64kph.


A pair of torso-mounted Heavy PPC's can vaporize two tons of armour in a single
volley, making the Vernichter one of the most powerfully armed mechs in its
class.


A versatile MML 9 gives it some fire support ability as well as a fairly potent
short range punch about 50% more effective than an SRM6.


Should the Vernichter find itself engaging targets at close range it mounts a
pair of ER Medium Lasers, twin Small Pulse Lasers and Machineguns, a good mix
of weapons effective against mechs, infantry and powered armour alike.


Because the main weaponry is located in the torso, the Vernichter can turn its
torso faster and at a wider angle than most other mechs.


Battle History:
The Vernichter served with Steiner forces during the Republic years and remains
a popular mech today as the Lyrian Alliance went to war in the Dark Age.


The Vernichter was often assigned to heavy or assault lances and would often
engage the enemy directly, firing volleys of PPCs and beat down oppenents,
opening the way for lancemates.
