Please tell me why, other than being the most annoying unit on the field to swat with anything without cat-like reflexes, this tank deserves to have a higher BV than many decent medium mechs and even some 3025 heavy mechs.

Now we have the super-short-ranged flying savannah master that's even cheaper BV wise.

BV is hilarious. It's broken but no one seems to care to admit it, despite the fact that some people even compound extra restrictions along with BV.(such as BV spread and BS like that)

A hover craft with an XLL engine and clan ER medium lasers vs a VTOL with a (presumeably) fusion or XL engine and 3 dinky flamers is not a good comparison. For the first vehicle, the high BV is due to the clan technology, speed, and XLL engine.

BV is not really for single unit vs unit comparison (unless your only fielding 1 one unit each side) but more to prevent the munchkiness of the hovercraft and the game from getting out of hand.

Really Maurer? Wow. BV doesn't give you anything that you can't get with any other method of picking forces. Been playing the game long enough and using an set tonnage limit for each side allows for a balanced games. BV doesn't really matter in that if folks want munchkin items or units they are going to use them. And hovercraft are no more munchkin then LAMs, or VTOLs. It all comes down to how the players actually use their forces. If they are less inclined to use tactical thinking then having the higher or lower BV means that they either have more cool toys they don't know how to use or they don't. If they can use tactical thinking then they can use their toys in a manner that allows them to win.

Each group will have different out comes based on who they play the game with, the skill set of the players and how into the game the players are.
