What is the max range of the HPG sent message BEFORE needing a re-transmission site?
Sending one from say Terra straight to New Avalon would it be able to go through without needing to be bounced by another station?

HPGs have a maximum range of 50 light-years. Per MW 2nd edition p. 152 and many other publications, A-class HPGs have a range of 50 light-years. B-class HPGs have a range of 20- to 30 light years. The standard relay process is described in MW2 (Comstar SB, etc.), indicating that it normally takes many weeks to cover several re-transmissions.
Terra and New Avalon are several hundred light-years apart and thus would require multiple re-transmissions.

Flat rate shipping...messages sent in batches every so often unless you pay priority shipping first class. That's how I see it and why it could take weeks when messages travel faster than the speed of light <_<
