Overview:
While the Johnson 'MechWorks, Inc of the Succession Wars is best known for
their spectacular failures -- a series of bizarre schematics and
barely-functional (or worse) prototypes -- it's an undeniable fact that the
firm's remarkably prolific design team also produced many concepts that could
have earned their keep quite well on the battlefild of the day.

The 40-ton Sentry was one of the latter. Nothing flashy; basic movement,
versatile but moderate firepower. Cheap, simple, reliable. Perfect for
cash-strapped garrisons or out-of-the-way postings.

Capabilities:
Like many medium 'Mechs, the Sentry's firepower is based around a single PPC,
providing adequate long- and short-range punch. A pair of Machine Guns for
anti-infantry, a Medium Laser for overall utility. The only oddity in the
design is the LRM ammo; 2 full tons on a 5-rack. The design notes indicate
that two ammo bins allow the Sentry to mount different types of specialty ammo,
selected to suit the mission, or simply based on what's readily available.

MY BLURB:
I had a nice plan for a circa 3050 design that used minimal advanced tech, but then Cray picked 3025 as the production era. This is pretty close. The LRM ammo is about the only expensive thing in terms of operating costs, but it's designed around use of the LRMs for "specialty" purposes more than for their damage potential. Comments?

Actually, it has jump jets...

Hmmm...wouldn't be the first time I re-invented the wheel lol. That's what I get for not checking first...

Just double-checked...5 tons lighter, 4 fewer heat sinks, MG pair instead of a Small Laser...less armour. Kind of a "poor man's Vindicator".

This one I could see getting a lot of press and then someone trying to do something crazy with it and well we know how those events end up...nice overall design.

solid design. I could very well see this as a militia mech. The hand actuators help alot.

Dispite the argument against ammo weapons, there really aren't that many militia mechs that are all energy based.

There is one thing that would be nice to see. Any sort of upgrades or variants that might be offered. I don't expect any.

Now for the look like issue. There are alot of mechs that look like other mechs. How many mechs out there use a ppc in right arm, and 2 mls in the other? or lrm 5/ppc combo?

That's not a bad thing. The Vindicator's a workhorse.

But if you wanted to mix it up and get something different, how do you avoid turning it into a Panther or Enforcer? Something that stands out without just being unique for uniqueness's sake?

Not much you can do with 3025 tech. Increasing the tech to 3050 opens up a lot more options.
