Overview:
The Ironsides can trace their origins back to the fall of the Star League. A
multi-regiment combined arms unit, they have a number of specialized teams for
various types of operations, one such team are the Troubleshooters, a company+
sized strike team that is often used for dangerous and difficult missions. Many
Troubleshooter mechs have been upgraded with captured Clan tech, making them a
very effective unit, able to take on all but the most fearsome foes.
Capabilities:
The Perseus Ironsides variant carries a powerful array of Clan weapons on a
versatile, proven chassis. A pair of Gauss Rifles and an ER PPC give it very
effective direct ranged firepower, while a pair of Medium Pulse Lasers and an
ER Small Laser provides the necessary short range firepower.
With five tons of Gauss ammo, the Ironsides has enough endurance to last all
but the most extended engagements. The mix of weapons is hardly a burden for
the 12 double strength heat sinks.
The firepower of the Perseus Ironsides will make even assault mechs pause.
A feature its fellow Troubleshooters have learned to appreciate.
Battle History:
The Perseus Ironsides is often used as a long range fire base, allowing the
more mobile elements of the unit to close in and finish the job, but the mech
is equally at home in offensive operations and is often used in the vanguard of
attacks against enemy forces.
Variants:
The Perseus Ironsides has been featured in a number of publications such as
Battletechnology and Mechwarrior of Fortune. This configuration has been
copied by other units using Inner Sphere tech, replacing the PPC with an ER
Large Laser or some combination of medium lasers to allow for the greater
weight of the Inner Sphere Gauss Rifles.
