Capabilities:
Designed to fill the void left by the cancelled Wolf Trap, the Grand Panther
was designed as a medium trooper mech. Criticized for its lack of speed, it
was half the cost of the Wolf Trap with a more favourable damage curve.

Battle History:
The Grand Panther carries a Heavy PPC, giving it the ability to potentially
knock out a light mech with a single shot. Any mech that tries to get close
has to deal with an SRM6 Streak and an ER Medium laser? For anti infantry work
the Grand Panther carries an ER Small Laser.

9 tons of armour give it adequate protection with the SRM ammo in a CASE bay
and a regular engine means that the Grand Panther can survive hits that might
cripple other mechs.

Deployment:
Production of the Grand Panther was put on hold during the Jihad, but resumed
afterwards. The Grand Panther is found in many line regiments, though it is
conspiciously absent from the more prestigious units of the Dragon.

Variants:
The only known variant is a test vehicle produced in small numbers that
replaces the medium laser and downgrades the SRM launcher to mount a
supercharger, while the small laser is swapped with a Small X-Pulse Laser.

What's a Heavy PPC on a Medium 'Mech without a Capacitor? **Evil Grin**

This is a great design. The Panther was too light to be really durable, but by 45 tons you can carry enough armor to survive exposure with most heavy weapons at least once. The weapons selections are solid and recognizably "Pantherish."

A tournament-legal design.

One thing I wanted to see on a panther mech is an lrm launcher.
The design does carry the panther feel. The laser is a good weapon to compliment the ppc.
I am not sure of the stats for a heavy ppc, so can't comment on the capabilities for that.

It is a good upgrade for the panther.

If you do put in an LRM it becomes a Vindicator

Or a lighter version of the griffin. The weight would have people screaming vindicator though.
Did you have a thought on the unit that might carry the master c3 for a lance with this mech in it?

I don't know why, but I was never a real fan of the vindicator. Guess I got used to the Phoenix Hawk for a 45 ton mech.

There are Bishamon and Daimyo variants that have a C3 Master.

You could have an MML launcher on the Grand Panther or even a snub-nose PPC.

The Vindicator is a scrapper, it's a bit slow, even with jump jets so it has to keep the enemy at bay with the PPC and LRM. It's in the same range as the Centurion with a similar range and firepower profile.
