Further research went into the Mech concept in 1945. Though critics pointed out the insane costs in making even one mech compared to MBTs like even the dreaded Tiger tank, such a tank could not hope to maneuver through the very thick jungles of the Pacific Islands and was a natural alternative to getting conventional armor support. Lessons from the 1st generation battlemechs were applied to the newer 2nd generation battlemechs. For example, the melee weapons and shields are used far less and jump jets are used on all the lighter mechs. XL gyros and composite armor and double heat sinks are also made available by now.

A concept known as Endo Steel is being developed as well. This technology should give the same tonnage savings without the added vulnerability of the weak composite structure. The catch? It has to be produced in a factory in space... Plans to take ASF technology and apply it to a much more massive ship is being developed to create such a factory, and it should be ready by mid-1945.

The Emperor is a solid mech design. Two LB-10 X ACs are very versatile in their applications in anything, from shredding vehicle motor systems to shredding infantry to shredding aircraft to punching holes in armor. It's other weapon system, twin LRM15s w/ Artemis IV, have more brute punch on a good day but suffer from minimum ranges. An ER small laser is head mounted too. Overall this brute is very, very durable and powerful for a second generation japanese mech unenhanced by german weapons.

The weapon of choice for a quick, messy kill. This Kotei is known as "The Emperor's Beating Stick". Germany's supply of enhanced weaponry make the IIa especially terrifying at short range. Their LRMs have no minimum range and the LB-10 X ACs are upgraded to 20s, having less range but twice the punch. CASE II provides excellent protection from ammo explosions and the Artemis IV is improved to a V model. A micro pulse laser provides a last line of defense against closing infantry.

This clan upgrade is known as the "Cyclops", referring to the german-spec ERLL located on the head. This platform is specialized for anti-air duties, possessing twin LB-2 X ACs on both arms which are accurate to ridiculous ranges. It's LRMs consist of quad streak LRM5 racks with independant targeting, and only fire(and use ammo) after obtaining a lock, so don't be afraid to use it on the most difficult of shots. Finally, a C3i computer system allows targeting info to be spread to other C3i computers to make them more accurate, finishing off this AA machine. Most mechwarriors don't like the IIb due to it's lack of raw strength of it's autocannons compared to the IIa and even the stock version.
