...but I'm feeling an irrational urge to post a hypothetical Perpetual Motion ship drive that defies at least 4 known laws of physics, and then argue for a dozen pages or so about how it absolutely WOULD work to produce FTL-travel.

Although Cray might perma-ban me if I did lol

I would love to see it.
And if cray tries a ban, I suggest we all boycott the forums.

Who knows. Cray is an engineer and might actually help.

I would suggest you get the stuff copyrighted or a patent on it before doing so. It is works out, you would lose alot in royalties.
And if you do get rich, remember us by coming in and thumbing your nose at us.

You mean like how jump ships can jump light years with out the great amount of energy that is in a black hole, or how a 50,000 ton drop ships can leave orbit with using like a ton of fuel, or how a 30 foot high machine that can only move 25 miles per hour can go with out being hit from thousand feet away?

You mean things like that?
Why argue if the glass is half full or half empty, when you know someone is going to knock it over and spill it anyways.

the fact that tanks now adays can hit targets miles away?
How a 60 ton tank is propelled to 60 miles an hour, not the slower kph, with an engine that weight under 30 tons?
How an engines in a tank blow up from one hit, but can sustain 3 in a mech?
How a unit using the same sensor array at night, can not hit a target like it can in the day?
How a unit can blind a magnetic anomalty detector, but yet no one can figure out the frequency it is not jamming?
How 3 light woods blocks line of sight, but 2 heavy does not?
How you can not see where a mech jumping above the tree line lands?
How come a laser can not hit a target to the horizon, even with a targeting laser?
How come it took so long for someone to figure out how to make armor piercing rounds?
How does an armless mech right itself when in a pit upside down?
How is it that a strafing fighter builds heat with the air flowing quickly over it's wings?
Why can a mech stand in a pool of water for hours firing and never boil the water it's in?

No, I mean I was browsing old posts and came across one of Newtype/HeroChip's threads. I grew nostalgic. :-D

Kamikaze Johnson was referring to this forum's only perma-banned poster, not making comments on BT's technology.

The trick, KJ, is not just to post a perpetual motion machine, but start endless flame wars and violate the posting rules repeatedly.

Well of course. Half the fun of posting a poorly-conceived Impossible Machine is the 20-page argument insisting it works and insulting everyone who disagrees.

The other half is creating half a dozen new accounts so I can agree with myself.

I invite any and all interested parties to do so, hopefully 3 or more times in the next year.

so is that what it takes to get a ban?
I have only had 2 warnings in the past 3 or so years.
Maybe a ban would get me to stop coming here and trolling... err.. using creative construction to allow other sides to be known.
yeah that sounds right.

The process, by default, goes like this:

1) You get warnings for violating the posting rules.

2) Each warning decays over the period of a year. So, if you got 2 warnings in January 2012, then you would have none on your record in February 2013. I keep a master list and share it with Santa so he can update his naughty list.

3) When you get to 3 warnings in a year, upon the 3rd warning you get banned for a week. This will appear as a situation where you suddenly have no access to the forums or PMs. (Which is annoying to me because the banned individual has to wait until their ban is up to read the explanation. Other forum interfaces allow PM reading during a ban.)

4) If you get more than 3 warnings in a year, the length of the ban increases: 4 warnings in a year is a month banned, 5 warnings is a year banned. Somewhere around 5 or 6 warnings you'll probably just be perma-banned.

However, as the posting rules note, there is room for instant perma-banning. Moderators don't have to wade through 3 warnings to perma-ban a spambot or someone posting of porn that's illegal in most jurisdictions. Epic trolls don't need to wait for 3 warnings, either.

we aren't allow to argue with ourselves?
where's the fun in that?
I have alot of things I want to call myself, and want the proof of what is said. The only way to do that is online.

by the way, santa is perma banned from here. He ate all the cookies instead of just the ones I left out several years in a row. Also left the milk but took the run.
Might be why he ran over the older lady way back when.

If he did drink the milk that was left out for a good part of the night he would be lucky if the runs was the only thing he had.

Can you be quite specific and explain in great exacting detailed of what things that would be so everyone else will know what not to be posting?
