Drop one of the mediums and use the tonnage for an AMS w/24 shots.

You are losing weight with the extra laser, again you are paying for the extra heat that you don't need three mediums is more then enough to cover the close in range bracket for this vehicle. Use the weight for the not needed fourth laser and the two extra heat sinks and go with an AMS and ammo.

Or use it for something like an infantry bay or something like a Beagle or Bloodhound. And again your program cut the heat sinks as well the control etc...weights off, really not helpful if we can't see ALL of the stats.

ok. Both of you. Where does it say you can not have more then 3 medium lasers or other things of this nature to avoid adding heat sinks?

Both have commented about them.
If is that big of a deal, don't use fusion at all and only mount non energy weapons.

Not a bad vee for the era. Seems more like a variant of the Horned Demon. For its time, it could easily be paired with the big guns of its relative for a solid formation.

The point I was going for was the weight could be better spent on other things given that this is a vehicle not a mech. The idea of offering suggestions.

limiting a tank to x weapons to avoid adding weight for other things is great if you are min/maxing the thing. It seems like alot of the tanks have artificial limits because of this.

I would guess you would never use the ontos because it has 8 medium lasers.

honestly, without some variety, why not just stick with the designs you already have? they are begining to look like copies, only this one is 40 tons while the last one was 65 tons.

Do you really need 10 designs that carry an lb10x with 3 medium lasers?

hmmm. can a tank fire an energy weapon on a world that is hot enough to raise heat from just idling?

Yes, its in the rule books. It just requires more undedicated heat sinks. Which is another argument for not maxing out the use of a fusion engines free heat sinks.
Why argue if the glass is half full or half empty, when you know someone is going to knock it over and spill it anyways.

IIRC hot environs slow the vehicles down by 1MP when mechs only gain 1 heat, making them bad choices to begin with at that point.

Using an Ontos would not be my first choice not. And the built in limits placed on vehicles due to the heat issue of energy weapons does force one to min/max to keep from losing needed weight for armor or speed to heat sinks.
