I'm perfectly fine with urban combat. It's quite simple to get jump infantry on top of a building to spot for LRMs down below with ease. Even if they don't survive the entire encounter, there's more infantry where that came from.
What do you refer to when you say "ambush"? The Hidden Units Rules?
I've seen some mechs try to use buildings to give partial cover. I've seen mechs enter buildings to... I guess take a shortcut. Unfortunately for them, some of them have basements, and collapse on them. Alternatively I can make it crash on them.
Sounds like you are referring to the Nephilidae with the "Mechs that don't move much with clan large pulse lasers with all the ecm crap that makes it hard to even see." That's false, actually. They thrive in such an environment. Same with the Salticidaes and Microsalticidaes which you all laugh at for having funky-looking partial wings.
