A quick note to all readers: Nicholatus Kerensky is my character from a MechWarrior campaign. What you read below are the actions that he and the other members of the group undertook. Owing to the nature of the campaign we played out, the history below has many contradictions to the way things “really” happened in the BattleTech universe. My GM and I made every attempt to tie the differences together, but the sudden appearance of a strong Gamma Galaxy in the Clan Wolf-in-Exile is definitely a break from the way things “really” happened. Not to mention the fact that Nicholatus Kerensky is a very definite balance-shifter. Feel free to use all, some, or none, of the information below in your own campaigns. I have included some comments in brackets throughout the fluff.

ComStar has researched the sudden appearance of a full Galaxy in Clan Wolf-in-Exile’s Touman. Khan Phelan Ward Kell has apologised to the Star League for this deception, but claims it was necessary to protect his shattered Clan. We have conducted a full investigation of the “new” Galaxy, and its commander, Nicholatus Kerensky. Our findings are presented below.

Bloodline

Nicholatus was created from two of Clan Wolf’s most cherished Giftakes; those of Khan Jerome Winson and Khan Anya Kerensky. These two Bloodheritages had never before been mixed to created a Sibko; Nicholatus was, disappointingly, the only viable member of the planned Generation. Scientists have not determined any reason for the failure of the generation.

Sibko

Nicholatus’ generation was to be raised and trained separately. However, when the generation failed, he was sent to be trained with the Sabre Wolf Sibko, consisting of Fetladral/Ward and Ward/Kerensky blendings. The Sibko proved to be an exceptional blending; 45% of the Sibko passed their Trials of Position.

Training

The Dire Wolf Facility is renowned for turning out exceptional MechWarriors; ilKhan Ulric Kerensky, Khan Natasha Kerensky, and Garth Radick were all trained in the massive city-like training facility. The Sabre Wolves were trained by Lucifer; an aged veteran who despised being forced to train the very warriors who would one day take his place. Lucifer often ordered harsh punishments for trivial offences-he once ordered a young cadet who incorrectly identified a Hammerhead fighter as a Sabutai OmniFighter whipped with a neural lash. When it became clear that Nicholatus was a Ristar, Lucifer gave him menial tasks and cut back severely into his free time. These menial tasks, however, served only to make Nicholatus physically stronger and Nicholatus spent what little free time he had left training in the art of hand-to-hand combat with an Elemental Sibko or in the training ‘Mechs honing his gunnery skills. Returning to his quarters after a day in the simulators, Nicholatus discovered a younger cadet, Marian of the Wards, beaten into a coma. After questioning the other cadets, Nicholatus learnt that Lucifer was responsible. Nicholatus then snuck out of the Dire Wolf Facility that night, and broke into then-Khan Ulric Kerensky’s offices in the Hall of Khans, waiting for the Khan to come back from a Clan Council meeting. For a Warrior cadet to challenge a serving Warrior, a Khan must sanction the battle. After hearing Nicholatus’ complaints, the Khan agreed to allow the battle, but reprimanded the young warrior for breaking into his quarters. Ulric ordered Nicholatus to be his personal labourer for the next year as his punishment. Ulric also warned Nicholatus that Lucifer would kill Nicholatus if he won the battle. Ulric then called Lucifer to his offices to issue the challenge; Lucifer chose to battle with ‘Mechs. Ulric offered Nicholatus the use of his own Gargoyle, but Nicholatus preferred a lighter, more mobile ‘Mech and asked to be allowed to borrow MechWarrior Estera of the 328th Assault Cluster’s Storm Crow instead. Nicholatus outfitted the Storm Crow specifically for the duel he was expecting to fight <See: Variants>. Nicholatus faced Lucifer’s massive Dire Wolf. The battle was to begin at dawn, outside of the Halls of the Wolf, in front of Alpha Galaxy and the upper command echelons of the Clan. As soon as the sun broke the horizon, the battle started. Lucifer managed to rip off one side of the Storm Crow before Nicholatus’ vastly superior gunnery skills prevailed and he decapitated Lucifer’s ‘Mech. After the battle, Khan Ulric appointed Cyrilla Ward as the new training officer for the Sabre Wolf Sibko with specific instructions to keep an eye on Nicholatus. Nicholatus’ victory over Lucifer unsurprisingly won him the favour of the rest of his Sibko, who aided him with the chores Ulric had set for him as punishment for his presumptions.

Trial of Position

Nicholatus’ Trial of Position was the final Trial for his Sibko. He was paired with Marian of the Wards, whose life he had saved two years ago. His opponents were a Nova Prime, a Timber Wolf Alpha, and a Dire Wolf Beta. Nicholatus himself piloted a modified Timber Wolf <See: Variants>. Nicholatus demolished the Nova with a barrage of targeted laser fire before the pilot had a chance to open fire on him. The Timber Wolf opened up with its twin ER PPC’s and Pulse Lasers, providing an impressive display of pyrotechnics, though having little effect other than short-circuiting Nicholatus’ Targeting Computer. Nicholatus’ response was a blistering volley of pulse laser fire, which removed the Timber Wolf’s left leg and right arm, robbing it of the ability to stand up and return fire. The Timber Wolf’s pilot signaled surrender and the Dire Wolf waded into the fray. Lacking time and options, Nicholatus decapitated the Dire Wolf, though the pilot managed to eject safely. With that, Nicholatus turned towards Marian’s battle, only to see her put down the Dire Wolf she had been battling for the past ten minutes. As the ‘Mech fell, however, it unleashed a final volley of missiles. The volley would have finished Marian’s trial and her life, but Nicholatus moved between the two ‘Mechs and bore the brunt of the blast, allowing Marian to survive and become a Warrior. Marian’s next opponent, a Warhawk, activated and opened fire with all four of its ER PPCs, inflicting considerable damage to the Timber Wolf Nicholatus was piloting. The battle between the two ‘Mechs lasted almost five minutes before the Warhawk’s LRM ammunition cooked off, knocking the pilot out. Marian’s final opponent, a Gargoyle, then came on-line and blew a hole through the Timber Wolf’s centre torso with its U/AC-20. After the battle, Nicholatus discovered the Gargoyle had been piloted by Khan Ulric and that the Timber Wolf he had faced was piloted by the Golden Keshik’s Star Commander Joshua Ward. His impressive tally of four kills left him the youngest Star Colonel to ever serve in Clan Wolf.
(The plan was for someone in the group to knock off two or three opponents, resulting in a Trinary command. The GM, however, had not factored in my dice rolls. Oh well…)

Career

Nicholatus’ command career began five months after the Trial of Position when he assumed command of the newly created 1st Wolf Lancers Cluster on Eden. The local Fire Mandrills believed that a new unit commanded by a green Star Colonel would be easy pickings. The Kindraa Sainze sent its elite 53rd Assault Cluster against the Wolves, who drove the 53rd off easily, then pursued them back to the Fire Mandrill’s Enclave on Eden-Fire Halls-and challenged the 53rd to defend the Enclave. The 53rd lost the Trial of Possession. Rather than take problematic Fire Mandrill warriors as Isorla, Nicholatus granted the entire 53rd Assault Cluster hegira. The local Jade Falcon Garrison decided that the Lancers, spread across two Enclaves and rebuilding from the savage fighting, could be divided and conquered. The Jade Falcon assault was stymied because they attacked when the Lancers were out on a jungle-combat training exercise and was, in fact, a united force. The Wolf Cluster managed to hold off the Jade Falcons for long enough that the Falcons ran out of ammo and had to withdraw, then sent lighter units to encircle the retreating Falcons. The Falcons were caught between the anvil of skirmishing scout elements and the hammer of the heavier combat units on the advance, and as a result were shattered. Since the Falcons could not defend their holdings on Eden, the Lancers sent an Assault Nova to claim the Jade Aerie as isorla. In a scant three months, Nicholatus had tripled the Wolves holdings on Eden. Ulric sent two clusters from Epsilon Galaxy to aid in garrisoning duties, but in the absence of any enemy attacks, the three clusters engaged in a series of jungle combat training excersises and personnel trading programs. These strengthened all of the clusters and gave Clan Wolf three elite units well versed in fighting in low visibility, tightly constricted terrain. This proved to be advantageous later on Tukayyid, when the 1st Wolf Assault Guards worked side-by-side with Epsilon Galaxy. The 1st Wolf Lancers were later attached to Gamma Galaxy for Operation Revival. The 1st Wolf Lancers debuted in the Inner Sphere on the 16th of September, 3049 on Crellacor. Nicholatus lead his Cluster in a week-long battle with the assault-class Oberon Guards, eventually shattering the Guards when he trapped the bandits against a massive cliff, leaving them nowhere to flee. When ComStar provided information about the Oberon Guards and their criminal activities, Nicholatus ordered them all court-martialed. Nearly all were found guilty of a series of crimes, and were executed. All the others were guilty by association and Nicholatus ordered them shipped back to the Homeworlds to work in the Wolf Clan mines. His next battle was on Skallevoll, a world renowned for its strong magnetic fields. Nicholatus ordered all of the forces committed to the battle be outfitted with ECM Suites tuned to produce magnetic interference. The 1st Lancers then executed a combat drop into the Glory Warrior’s midst, with Nicholatus personally accounting for almost a company of the mercenaries ‘Mechs. The Glory Warriors, however, fought so well that Nicholatus took the unit as isorla, planning to add them to Clan Wolf’s Warrior Caste. The last battle the 1st Wolf Lancers took part in was on Rodigo, where incorrect information resulted in the disastrous combat drop which saw almost 75% of the Cluster wiped out by swift vehicles backed up by heavy and assault ‘Mechs. Although the Wolves triumphed, very little of the Cluster remained. The Cluster now contained largely assault-class ‘Mechs and Elementals; the 1st Lancers had never had an aerospace contingent. Galaxy Commander Lena Fetladral ordered the 1st Lancers to return to the Homeworlds and rebuild, hoping that the fighting would be over by the time Nicholatus returned. As he was leaving the Wolf Clan Occupied Zone, Nicholatus discovered that there was a Trial of Bloodright being held. Nicholatus managed to arrive just in time over Svelvik to compete in the Grand Melee. However, Nicholatus was forced to perform a combat drop into the combat, and as a result badly damaged his Dire Wolf’s<See: Variants> leg actuators, leaving him all but immobile in the Melee. Luckily, however, the Melee was taking place in a series of canyons and he managed to drop into one which did not contain any other competitors; they had to enter through a narrow defile-and allow Nicholatus a clear shot with his two massive Ultra Autocannon Twenties. Nicholatus won the 32nd slot in the Bloodright Tournament. Ulric Kerensky was the official over the ensuing Trials, and was surprised to find Nicholatus in the tournament. Apparently Ulric had offered to sponsor Nicholatus for a slot in the Bloodname battles, but had been informed by Lena Fetladral that Nicholatus did not wish to participate in the battle. Nicholatus immediately became suspicious of his commander, but kept his beliefs quiet. He fought easily through the Trials of Bloodright, reaching the final battle. Nicholatus’ final opponent was Star Captain Gena, who piloted a Kirghiz OmniFighter. Knowing that any ‘Mech he chose to use against her would be outgunned, outarmoured, and horribly outmaneuvered, he decided to command the terrain. He had recently reviewed the Kell Hounds’ battle on The Rock, and knew that the tight canyons and recessed caves there would be an excellent combat site. Nicholatus also configured his Dire Wolf to the most advantageous configuration possible-one which could fill the air with laser pulses, missiles, and ammunition fragments, to make it easier to hit the swiftly moving Fighter <See: Variants>. Nicholatus moved into the canyons and backed into the mouth of a cave, forcing Gena to fly at a low speed through tight terrain, then fire only for a split second before having to break off. Nicholatus downed the Kirghiz after Gena’s third pass at him, becoming the youngest warrior to ever win a Bloodname at the age of 19. Now Nicholatus Kerensky, he left the Inner Sphere to return to the Homeworlds and reform his Cluster. Once returned to the Homeworlds, Nicholatus Kerensky decided to use his surviving warriors as the core of his new unit. Since the largest part of his unit was composed of Assault OmniMechs, he decided to form a cluster similar to those used by Clan Ghost Bear. Appropriating nearly every Assault OmniMech available, Nicholatus formed four Trinaries consisting largely of Assault and Heavy OmniMechs. Next, he began stripping the local Garrison Clusters of their Elementals, turning every Trinary into a Supernova formation. He also took a Trinary of Aerospace Fighters to make his Cluster the largest and most powerful front-line unit that Clan Wolf possessed. On the 19th of December, 3051, Nicholatus Kerensky returned to the Inner Sphere, at the head of a brand new, highly trained Cluster ready to take blood on the worlds of the Inner Sphere barbarians. He won the bid to take the world of Skandia, where he faced the worn-out and demoralized 3rd Drakons, and a motley collection of Militia units. The Third Drakons, who had twice fled the Wolves, were a top priority and fell when Nicholatus ordered the entire Cluster to perform a combat drop into the Drakons’ base of operations. The entire Drakons regiment was obliterated, captured, or fleeing within a half-hour of landing. Since the Assault Cluster was ill-suited to pursuing the fleeing Drakons, Nicholatus released his Elementals and Aerospace Fighters to harry them whilst the rest of the Cluster went hunting for the local militia. The battle for Skandia lasted for just over a week, and the planetary government surrendered after watching the last Company of the Drakons being cut down by Elementals just as they moved towards the gates to Skandia’s capital city, Jarlborg. The 1st Assault Guards Cluster suffered less than 5% casualties in its brutal fighting, thanks to Nicholatus’ Assault machinery and tactical skill. After leaving Skandia, the 1st Assault Cluster was renamed the 1st Wolf Assault Guards by Ulric Kerensky in recognition of the imposing odds they had faced and defeated. The newly christened Cluster withdrew to Rasalhague to rebuild, recruiting from Epsilon Galaxy. The next time the 1st Wolf Assault Guards saw combat was in the hellacious Battle of Tukayyid. The 1st Wolf Assault Guards executed a Combat Drop from high orbit under the orders of Galaxy Commander Lena Fetladral. This, however, was a trap; Lena told Nicholatus that he would drop into a clear area without any ComGuard forces present, then proceed to Skupo, forming the anvil Gamma Galaxy would smash the ComGuard defenders against. The information she had given Nicholatus appeared to be true. However, Nicholatus discovered too late that he was performing a Combat Drop into the midst of a ComGuard Assault ‘Mech Level III supported by a Level III of Assault Vehicles. Despite being outnumbered and outgunned, the Wolves fought free, only to be ambushed by a skirmisher unit sent to stop the Wolves.75% of the 1st Wolf Assault Guards were slain by the ComGuards before they managed to return to the rear lines to resupply, rearm, and repair. Nicholatus “borrowed” the entire Choyer Garrison Cluster to reinforce his shattered Wolf Guards. The 1st Wolf Assault Guards had been reported as Killed In Action by both the ComGuard intelligence service and the command of Clan Wolf, so when the supposedly destroyed unit showed up on the battlefield near Brzo, thirty kilometers away from the rest of Gamma Galaxy and in support of the faltering assault of Beta Galaxy, both the ComGuards and the Wolves were surprised. Khan Garth Radick recovered before Precentor Margo Koivu, and the Wolves redoubled their efforts to take the city. After a six-hour long pitched battle, the Wolves managed to break through the ComGuards lines and take their objective. The 1st Wolf Assault Guards moved inside the city and reinforced it. As night fell, the ComGuards managed to push the rest of Clan Wolf back, and Nicholatus suggested a retreat to Brzo to plan for the next day. A cease-fire was arranged with the ComGuards and the Wolves fell back to Skupo. By dawn, the entire Clan Wolf force had assembled at Brzo. The ComGuards, however, had not been idle, repairing what they could and adding to the defences around Skupo. The ComGuards also reassigned their air power to the forces still facing the Jade Falcons, who were gaining an edge in the air battles. Nicholatus noticed a lack of Aerospace Fighters performing flybys over Brzo, which would normally be expected, as the Guards knew exactly where the Wolves were camped. Nicholatus proposed a bold plan; weld hardpoints for Elementals onto the wings of Clan Wolf OmniFighters and drop the Elementals over Skupo, to maraud through the ComGuards lines. The Wolves kicked off their assault at 6:00 am, local time, with the “Elemental Bombing Raid”. The plan worked perfectly, as the OmniFighters dropped their cargo before the Guards could order their own Aerospace Fighters into the fray. The assault was not easy, however; the ComGuards began an artillery barrage as soon as the Wolf forces could be seen. The Wolves advanced trough the rain of bomblets and stormed Skupo, slaying the ComGuards to the last man. The Clan then split into two task forces and took up positions in the two cities to defend them against the ComGuard reinforcements that were on their way. Fortunately, the Battle of Tukayyid ended before the ComGuards arrived. A battered and bloody Touman lifted off Tukayyid to rebuild and count the cost. It was later that night that Star Colonel Nicholatus Kerensky discovered Galaxy Commanders Lena Fetladral and Conal Ward discussing the battle. He overheard Lena expressing great disappointment that Nicholatus had survived the battle and gained glory in doing so. She also told Conal that she planned to assassinate Nicholatus later that night, as he slept. Nicholatus stepped out of the shadows and challenged his perfidious commander to a Trial of Annihilation. She could not refuse, as Nicholatus could force Conal to testify before ilKhan Ulric if she did so. In the grip of he insanity, she accepted and demanded trial by physical combat. This was folly, for Nicholatus was twenty centimeters and forty kilos larger than her, and also half her age. Unsurprisingly, he killed her on the spot, then ordered her body and Giftake destroyed. He immediately called Ulric Kerensky, and explained the situation to him. Ulric declared Nicholatus the new commander of Gamma Galaxy. Nicholatus immediately began questioning the members of the Bronze Keshik, and discovered that all of its members had known about the plot but had done nothing to prevent it. The rest of the Galaxy knew nothing. Nicholatus dispossessed the entire Bronze Keshik, stripped them of their Warrior status and exiled them all from the Clan. He then began the process of rebuilding his shattered Galaxy. He began by transferring the best Warriors into his own 1st Wolf Assault Guards, designating them as his command unit in place of a Keshik. He created the 2nd Wolf Assault Guards to replace his Cluster, then began to rebuild the 7th, 11th, and 16th Battle Clusters. He stripped a large number of Elementals away from Epsilon Galaxy to form an unprecedented number of Nova units and also opened slots in Gamma Galaxy to those from Epsilon who competed in a Bloodname-like Trial system. Those who entered Gamma Galaxy were allowed to compete in a Trial of Position to gain command ranks. He also declared that on the 22nd of May (Foundation Day) each year, five slots would be opened for second-line Galaxy members to enter the Gamma Galaxy. By the end of the year, Gamma Galaxy was declared fully active. Nicholatus ordered his warriors to engage in Trials of Possession for Bloodrights and designs that had distinguished themselves on Tukayyid. This bought Clan Wolf Bloodrights for Aidan Pryde, Aletha Kabrinski, Perigard Zalman, and Ian Hawker. These Trials also bought the Wolves design blueprints for the Battle Cobra, the Crossbow, and the Turkina. Following this, Gamma Galaxy kept a low profile until the Refusal War. When the cowardly Falcons declared their Trial of Absorption against the Wolves, Nicholatus lead his Galaxy on a massive campaign across four planets, costing the preening Falcons three entire Galaxies and one front-line Cluster before following Khan Phelan Kell across the boarder to the Inner Sphere. Nicholatus arrived on Gamma Galaxy’s Flagship, the McKenna-class Werewolf, which Phelan wanted to use as the Clan Flagship. Nicholatus violently objected to this proposal, and was forced to take to the field in a Trial of Possession against Phelan to keep the massive ship. He easily won the combat, but allowed Phelan to use the ship ‘until such time as Gamma Galaxy has need of it’. In this way, he kept the ship as his own but placated Phelan and the rest of the Clan, who were beginning to worship Phelan. Phelan left Gamma Galaxy untouched when he rebuilt his shattered Touman, leaving Nicholatus to his own devices, trusting him to reform his mauled unit. Nicholatus used the isorla 7th Falcon Talons to replace his ‘Mechs and Elementals, and then handed the rest of the unit over to Phelan for reassignment. Then came the election for the post of saKhan. Nicholatus Kerensky was voted in almost unanimously, but had to refuse the post because Phelan had told the Inner Sphere that he had been slain with the rest of Gamma Galaxy in the Refusal War. Nicholatus instead nominated Marco Hall, the new commander of Natasha Kerensky’s elite Wolf Spiders. Marco was voted in by a narrow margin, barely winning out against Evantha Fetladral. Khan Phelan’s wisdom in hiding the existence of Gamma Galaxy showed in late 3059, when the Steel Vipers launched a surprise attack against the world of Pandora, where Nicholatus lead the 1st Wolf Assault Guards, in Omega Galaxy colours, against the Viper’s 126th Striker Cluster. Nicholatus outfought the veteran Strikers, adding them to Clan Wolf. They were later broken up and distributed amongst Alpha and Beta Galaxies to bring them up to full strength. Gamma Galaxy also provided the mainstay defence of the Arc-Royal Defence Cordon whilst Khan Phelan Kell led the Alpha and Beta Galaxies on Operation Bulldog. In 3061, Khan Kell ordered Nicholatus to take his 1st Wolf Assault Guards to the Kensai Kami program and train the Combine Warriors in the true art of war. Despite some early hostilities, the 1st Wolf Assault Guards were accepted by the DCMS and worked to train the very best warriors in the Combine. This year, Nicholatus has spent his time at the prestigious Gunslinger Program at the Focht War Academy. Nicholatus has since pressured Khan Phelan for permission to go to Luthien and test his force against the ComGuards and the Royal Black Watch. Khan Phelan does not seem to like this idea, however, and has instead set Nicholatus to work planning an operation to liberate five worlds from the Jade Falcons.

Remembrance Insignia

Nicholatus selected the insignia of the ANZACs as his Remembrance Insignia. The ANZACs (Australia New Zealand Army Corps) were a legendary unit, which fought during the First World War on Terra. The ANZACs are remembered for their sacrifices fighting in a dismal cove on the coast of Turkey. They mistakenly landed in a small cove, actually kilometers away from their intended target, and then had to face the wrath of the Turkish soldiers lying in wait for them. Over half the brave soldiers were slain before they reached the beaches. The ANZACs held their position for more than a month, and fewer than one hundred warriors from the original Regiment returned to their homelands.

Overview
The Sabre Wolf is a new design fielded exclusively in Gamma Galaxy. Nicholatus Kerensky created the design a little over ten years ago, following the Battle of Tukayyid, which all but destroyed his Timber Wolf. At first the design was to be a Timber Wolf modification which increased the speed of the ‘Mech in exchange for lighter weight and slightly less armour. It soon became clear, however, that the Timber Wolf was a poor test vehicle. Appropriating a badly mauled Summoner, Nicholatus Kerensky ordered the Techs to retrofit it with Endo Steel bones, upgrade the armour, and install MASC. This was the first Sabre Wolf prototype. Whilst it was fast and maneuverable, the OmniMech had a tendency to misread armour damage and occasionally the targeting system failed. Despite those problems, however, the Sabre Wolf proved itself a capable machine. Using his newfound powers as a Galaxy Commander, Nicholatus Kerensky ordered a limited production run begun. This run provided twenty Sabre Wolves, two of which Nicholatus appropriated and the rest of which were spread throughout his Cluster.

The Sabre Wolf is swift, heavily armoured, and possessed of incredible firepower. The powerful Clan Targeting Computer appears to be a standard part of the configurations of the Sabre Wolf, and adds greatly to its accuracy-particularly when it is combined with the PPCs and Pulse Lasers which make up its typical armaments. It has been noticed that the first three variants of the Sabre Wolf are basically the same as the platforms found on the Steel Viper Battle Cobra. There are two interesting breakaways from that pattern, however; the ‘Charlie’ variant usually piloted by Galaxy Commander Nicholatus Kerensky himself, and the new ‘Delta’ variant. The ‘Charlie’ variant packs an eight-pack of Medium Lasers, half pulsed, the other half extended-range. Nicholatus has demonstrated uncanny levels of accuracy when operating in this configuration; he has proven capable of removing his enemies’ heads with the pulsing lasers whilst simultaneously ripping out their torsos with the extended range lasers. Although this is totally excessive, Nicholatus usually smirks and mumbles “Better safe than sorry”. Altcon Delta, however, is also an interesting machine. It attempts to rectify problems with the other variants; limited range. Each arm carries an ER Large laser, with an underslung companion group consisting of 1 small and medium ER laser and a pair of ER Micro Lasers for anti-infantry work. There have also recently been rumors of a new configuration, featuring Heavy Lasers, but this is as yet unconfirmed. **ADDITION TO ORIGINIAL MATERIALS: The new variant of the Sabre Wolf does, in fact, feature Heavy Lasers. Nicholatus Kerensky himself supplied information to us after he read this material. **

Deployment
The Sabre Wolf appears only within Gamma Galaxy. It is fortunate indeed for the Inner Sphere that none of the other Clans won the rights to produce this potent platform. Khan Phelan Kell may have plans to deploy the Sabre Wolf as a standard design once the Wolves’ production capabilities are back online.

Gamma Galaxy: Wolves on the Border

Under the wise hand of Nicholatus Kerensky, Gamma Galaxy has flourished in recent years. Gamma Galaxy is the only fully operational unit in the Clan Wolf Touman, as Nicholatus has engaged in several raids into Clan territories to take troops as isorla. The Galaxy is spread across four worlds in the Arc-Royal Defence Cordon; Morges, A Place, Dustball, and Koniz.

Officers

As well as Nicholatus, several excellent commanders staff Gamma Galaxy. Marian Ward, long-time aide-de-camp of Nicholatus, commands the 2nd Wolf Assault Guards Cluster on A Place. Viktor Pryde, an isorla Jade Falcon Warrior, commands the newly created Night Watch Cluster, and Abhorsen Tudorescu commands the 1st Wolf Cavaliers on Koniz.

Tactics

The four Cluster Commanders of Gamma Galaxy share only one tactical trait; they lead from the front. Whenever possible, they bid themselves into the battle and then lead it from the front, heading a massive charge that smashes aside their enemy’s forces. In a prolonged battle, however, they display several different tactical groundings. Marian is a cautious commander and usually oversupplies her troops. These same excessive supplies allow her to press her opponent heavily, and eventually she grinds the enemy down. Viktor favours the mobile approach, and often march orders his troops through the night. This allows him to keep the enemy off-balance and eventually forces his opponent into a reaction-only strategy. Once this is achieved, he brings the full weight of his unit down upon the enemy. Abhorsen is a flexible commander, but enjoys setting traps for his unwary opponents. In a simulated battle, two Trinaries of the 1st Wolf Cavaliers managed to trap the entire Night Watch Cluster in a narrow ravine and destroyed the Cluster wholesale.

Forces

Gamma Galaxy contains the heaviest concentration of Nova units in the entire Clan Touman. Some 60% of its clusters are made up of intensively drilled Novas, some of which are Aerospace Novas-a pet project of Nicholatus’. Any Star not part of a Nova either has a specific duty-i.e. as a Scout Star or Support Star-or is on the waiting list for Elemental support. When this is combined with the massive weight of Gamma Galaxy’s OmniMechs, a single Cluster is often the match for two in any other Clan.

SPECIAL RULES

All units from Gamma Galaxy gain +2 to their initiative rolls. If Nicholatus is in the field, all Gamma Galaxy forces may use the special rules for Overrun Combat.

FIRST WOLF ASSAULT GUARDS
The First Wolf Assault Guards may use the rules for Overrun combat. Instead of the standard random forces chart, they roll on the tables below.

Force Size
1-2: Assault Super Nova Trinary ( 6-9 Assault 'Mechs, 6-9 heavy 'Mechs, 0-2 Medium 'Mechs, plus Elementals)
3-5: Heavy Supernova Binary (3-5 Assault 'Mechs, 3-5 Heavy 'Mechs, 2-5 Medium 'Mechs, plus Elementals)
6-8: Assault Guards Binary (2-5 Assault 'Mechs, 7-10 Heavy 'Mechs, 2-5 Medium 'Mechs, 2 Stars of Elementals)
9-11: Assault Guards Trinary (3-5 Assault 'Mechs, 3-10 Heavy 'Mechs, 2-5 Medium 'Mechs, 2 Stars Elementals)
12: Assault Super Nova (5 Assault 'Mechs, 1 Star Elementals)

They also gain a +1 Initiative bonus per turn if they kill more 'Mechs than they loose.

SECOND WOLF ASSAULT GUARDS
The 2nd Wolf Assault Guards roll on the same table as the 1st. They gain a +1 Initiative bonus next turn if every unit on the field moves at Walk speed. Elementals are the only exception.

THE NIGHT WATCH
The Night Watch cluster does not enjoy the same ratio of Assault 'Mechs as the assault Guards Clusters, but still field an impressive number of Heavy 'Mechs. The player may substitute 1 'Mech per Star with a Heavy or Assault design if one was not rolled randomly for that group.

FIRST WOLF CAVALIERS
The Cavaliers field few 'Mechs heavier than 75 tons and so do not gain any table roll bonuses. However, the Cavaliers gain a +1 Initiative bonus next turn if every unit moves at Run speed. Elementals are the only exception. Any 'Mech weighing less than 50 tons may use the Hidden Deployment rules. They may not, however, make Point-Blank Shots From hiding.

Your Dire Wolf Vogeljager [Birdhunter] would be better named the Falkejager [Falcon Hunter] which I believe was your intent judging from the history that I read

mmm...Not really. It was built for my Trial of Bloodright, when I squished that pesky Kirghiz OmniFighter.

'Cheesy', you say?

C'mon...It's MechWarrior. Everyone is supposed to be the big hero. I mean, you're telling me that you have never used a pair of shoelaces, a spare tyre, and a bit of blu-tac to demolish an entire eneemy base before?

;)

Seriously, though...Phelan is *A LOT* cheesier than Nicholatus.

Besides, he got the big nerf in MW3 when they crippled Natural Aptitudes. I had Nat Ap: 'Mech Gunnery....*DAMN THEM*!

RPing is wonderful, no?

Especially the Golden Rule: "Everything the players do will backfire upon them"...no, no wait...that should be "There are no rules."
