thought the vulture is what the innersphere called the mad dog omnimech.
It is a nice hit and run mech. Looks like a faster version of the jenner, with all lasers, instead of the srm 4.

It's the IS code name of the Mad Dog. But it's not the actual name of any mech.

To the Inner Sphere it is the name of the Made Dog, so as to give you an understanding, NATO/US forces have given nicknames to Soviet armor and fighters, some of which the Soviets have adopted themselves. If you ask some one in the US military to tell you what the Mi-24 or Mi-17 are, you with get the names of Hind and Hip. Because to them that is what they were taught to call them. So this would be a good case of needing fluff for your mech to clear up the confusion.

Then again I can see how the name applies to this one, it's fast, has the asinine partial wing (this is Battletech, not Gundam or Robotech or Shadowrun) and thus fits the moniker of the name, other then that I agree with Ghostrider it is the Jenner sans the SRM.

For some reason, I do not see a vulture as a fast bird. Don't know why I thought about it. Might be the troll coming out to play.

I would think a falcon, eagle or hawk would be a getter choice. Cheetah would work as well.
It is interesting that the designs that would benefit from ecm seem to be missing it, while the 100 tonners always have one, sometime multiple units.

Still don't know why having multiple units named the same makes me want to say something. Coming up with names can be a real pain.

They can be a pain, I have always used a list, if I find an interesting name, I write it down, do some research on it and try to make the mech fit something from the name if I can. If not then I work the name into the fluff as to why it was called "Whatcamacallit" etc...I have found this to be a good way to do things.

you mean consistancy is a good thing?
The unit can not be called one thing, but referred to something else in another location?

It does lead to some confusion when that happens.
