Anybody know how many regular troops a Goblin Infantry Support Vehicle can carry? I see a reference to 3 tons of space but I don't know what that translates to in terms of troops. Thanks!

That's about a platoon of 30 footsoldiers, or 16 jump troops, or 14 motorized troops, or 3 mechanized troops, or 3 medium battlearmor.

Cool, thanks! So I guess 1 ton of space equals about 10 regular soldiers then.

Yeah. The normal goblin with 1 ton of space isn't incredibly useful or worthwhile if using it as an IFV itself.

the goblin was created to work in a lance formation. Combined they carried a platoon of infantry, ie needing 4 squads together. 7 men per squad, 28 men for a platoon.
The laser and srms were good enough to destroy infantry when the unit was first shown to the public. Since then, they changed how infantry took damage.

Which is good, because the way infantry disintegrated when even being looked at anti-mech weaponry was very annoying.
And SRMs are still very good at infantry killing.

It's more like 1 squad (7) of foot infantry per ton. Some infantry units are heavier than others. A platoon of motorized infantry is about 5 tons, or more than 1 ton per squad.

Thanks all. I am seeing two answers here....3 Tons of Space equals 21 regular foot infantry OR 30 regular foot infantry. I recognize humans can squeeze in but I wonder what is normal. I am putting together some infantry stands and I want the correct number of figures (I recognize sometimes we use fewer figures to symbolize more but I'd like the right number). I am putting two stands of 15 for each 3 Ton Cargo Transport. This lance has two Goblin Infantry Support Vehicles and two Maxims. When in place, 8 stands of infantry pour out, 15 per stand. I already have a few of the stands completed but I'd be curious to hear thoughts.

a squad is 7 men. A platoon is 4 squads or 28 men. This is for foot and mechanized infantry. Jump platoons are 21 men.

OK, I am going to go with 7 regular infantry per ton, so for a 3 ton cargo bay, 21 men.

1 man weighs .1 tons. 10 regular footsoldiers weighs 1 ton. A 3 ton infantry bay is capable of carrying 30 footsoldiers, or just a bit more than your average platoon.

The weights for how much infantry and their weapons and gear weigh has never been fully explained or set in stone.

I can see for simple math the .1 ton per man works much easier then trying to figure the weight for 7 men per ton. Could log it down to the gear that they take in addition to the weapons and such.
