Overview:
Designed to replace aging Panthers in the Federated Suns military, the Panther
II adds 5 tons to the design and is built on an improved Endo Steel chassis, and
maneuverability is improved, top speed is bumped to 97.2 kph, and now jumps 180m.
One of the new Re-engineered Large Lasers provides a solid punch against mechs
in opposing militaries that make use of improved armor types, such as hardened
or reflective. Claws mounted on the left arm are far from just for show, they
are a lethal weapon easily capable of shredding mech armor. Lastly, a GECM suite
allows this mech to remain stealthy in combat scenarios.


Variants:
PNT-II-YO9

Replaces the R-e Laser with an ERPPC and addtional heat sink.


PNT-II-U55

Replaces the R-e Laser with a standard PPC and ER Medium Laser.


PNT-II-50Z

Replaces the R-e Laser with a Clan Heavy Large Laser, Clan Heavy Medium Laser,
and Targeting Computer. Two more heatsinks are also mounted to help cover the
vast amounts of heat.

My main inspiration was that of a melee Panther, but with the added purpose of taking on the new Kuritan designs that use hardened armor. And rather obviously making a Panther with actual mobility.

The main weapon reminds me of something you'd put on a tank destroyer. Or at least for anything against hardened armor.

well the panther is normally 35 tons and only the draconis combine made then, it is interesting take on it. But I guess that changed in the newer books.

I would ditch the claws and go with more weapons.

The claws were simply included because I wanted a Panther with a respectable melee attack. Also because Davions are cowboys and would actually use such a thing.

What is a R-e Laser? I could not find it on the wiki
Why argue if the glass is half full or half empty, when you know someone is going to knock it over and spill it anyways.
