Information:
Scientists at Imperius Rex Industries, Scarabus Heavy Manufacturing, and
the Alphard Trading Corporation's weaponry divisions created the IDHS as
a relatively easy-to-acquire alternative to the Clan DHS. The weight of the
units had to be increased slightly due to use of more dense materials to aid
in the smaller construction. Despite this issue, the IDHS is still an excellent
choice for those looking to save space on their mechs without having to use
SHS or deal with unreliable supplies of Clan DHS in the war-stricken Dark Ages.
Game Special Rules:The heat sink's more durable construction means that
on the first critical hit, the sink's capacity is reduced to 1, rather than destruction;
a secondary roll occurs after the critical hit roll, the sink is destroyed only on
odd numbered rolls.

Information:
Clans Sea Fox and Diamond Shark scientists collaborated in possibly one of the
most interesting projects to date in the concept of heat sinks. After five years
of difficult research and testing, the Clan Triple Heat Sink was first successfully
used in a combat trial by a reworked Daishi OmniMech dubbed the Dire Wolf II.
The Triple Sink performed admirably, allowing the machine to use its MASC,
Supercharger and full weapons load almost constantly. Issues have occured
when hit due to the higher pressure systems of the Triple Heat Sink.
Game Special Rules:When directly damaged by a critical hit, the Triple Heat Sink
has two possible outcomes; the first is that heat capacity is lowered to 2, and
another successive hit results in destruction; the second is that the Heat Sink's
large amount of pressurized coolant will burst in the tubes, causing 5 points of internal
damage, and losing all cooling capacity. The first result occurs on an even
numbered special roll after the critical roll, the second result occurs on odds.

Information:
The Improved Single heat sink is essentially just a light version of the standard
heat sink that has been in use for centuries. Recon or anti-infantry mechs that
don't require high heat disspation can use the Improved Singles to save even
more weight than Endo-Steel or Ferro-Fibrous alone. Improved Singles mounted
in the engine will save a total of .5 tons of weight every 40 ratings. I.E. 40, 80, 120,
160, 200, 240, 280, 320, 360, 400, (440, 480)

My group came up with the idea of Triple Heat Sink years ago, what we did was have 5 in the engine as a base, able to dissipate 15 heat. I will look up the rules we came up with and share them later today.

I do like your ideas here and they do offer a route that could be taken by both the Clans and the Inner Sphere forward in this area of technology.

Yeah, I decided Triples needed some sort of really off the wall(as far as heatsinks go) balancing to make it interesting.

mount ER/50 total heat sinks in the engines (or around 8 max, since 400/50 = 8). This is half as many as
normal and XL engine can mount (ER/25).

and my intent with the Triples was actually because i wanted to make space/weight hogging UAC20 mechs easier to build, since 30 points of heat dissapation and no external sinks on your typical 300 engined assault is glorious.
