I made this one with REMLAB.sourceforge.net, as MML doesn't yet support wet navy vessels. While the format looks a lot more like what everyone else posts, I cannot be assured that the program inserted the numbers right.(Noticed many bugs in it, though it rectified itself a couple times), so take it's validity with a pinch of salt.

Overview
Somewhere in the inner sphere, on a planet far far away, was a planetary government under the rule of a Great House. The particular planet consisted of a populace with a seafaring heritage; a fact they were so proud of they made a national holiday to thank veterans of the navy. However, they came to realize they were simply not up to par. After a rival house almost successfully invaded the planet with 'mech forces dueling navies frequently and sinking them by the dozens, they decided they wanted THEIR seamen to get an equipment overhaul so they could compete with these newer-tech wonders. So they went to the drawing board...

Capabilities
The Mauna Key II is a force to be reckoned with. While it's still a bit undergunned compared to similarly sized tanks and mechs, few other ships can handle the mix of good armor and nice weaponry this ship gives. This starts with a prime armament upgrade to an ERPPC, which has the firepower of an AC/10 with greatly extended ranges and the ability to fire at stuff underwater. The LRM15 is changed to a LRM10 and a SRM6, prompting some to call the Mauna Key II the "Sea Manticore" due to the new design's resemblance to it's ground-based cousin(Indeed, some of the designers of the Mauna Key II used to be repair technicians for Manticores). It has 2 machine guns as well as 2 vehicle flamers broadside with the purpose of engulfing stupid pirate crews in flames more efficiently than simply mowing them down would. This is topped off with state-of-the-art electronics suites to replace the infantry bay Intended to be close to shorelines, a Bloodhound Active Probe can sniff out potential ambushes close to the shoreline and an Angel ECM Suite can help mask it's approach, along with providing ECCM and adding nasty ghost targets to battle computers. Finally, the same weight of reactive armor provides excellent protection against the two most likely(and deadly) threats:Underwater submarine torpedo attacks, and aircraft bombing raids.

Battle History
The Mauna Key II is produced locally, so it hasn't seen many battles, though they did manage to thwart an attempted raid by Word of Blake. In the cover of darkness and a whole lot of ECM, the WoB landed dropships in the shore near an ocean and deployed many hovercraft and some fighters to avoid the capital city's multiple anti-capital ship arrays. During the attempted raid, Mauna Key IIs happened to be stationed near there and assisted in the defense. In a brutal battle, the ships proved their worth and helped to push the invaders back. Bombing raids on these new ships were attempted, but had little success except a couple lucky breaches, and many more fighters were lost trying to sink the ships than there were ships sunk. The WoB left and never managed to return again.

Deployment
The Mauna Key II is deployed wherever pirate threats are common or attacks from foreign sources are likely.

Variants
If submarines are specifically going to rear their ugly heads, the outer forces use specialized Mauna Key IIs that strip their broadside weapons for armor and their electronics suites, except for the C3, for harjel on all sides. These are not common due to their only source being controlled by clan Diamond Shark.

Another removes all electronic suites for a C3 Master.

Some of these downgrade to LRM5s and SRM2s to fit harjel, making these buggers to sink from below.

Yet another changes the LRMs and SRMs to torpedo versions.

More like the "Command Vessel" of the Mauna Key, this variation removes the electronic suites for a 5 ton infantry bay.

Notable Warriors
In the previously mentioned WoB battle, the crew of Captain Richard McCormick was among the first to the fray. He reportedly managed to claim 3 invading hovercraft in five minutes, and down an attacking aerospace fighter with a lucky PPC hit. He also proportedly noticed a clan-spec one-off mech merge onto a shoreline, supported an ill-prepared beach defense position to down the mech(while taking fire from said mech), and eventually claiming a mech half-kill with his heavily battered ship. He then got field repaired in a dockyards and was back in the fray again before the battle ended! However, the government of the planet refuses to acknowledge the existence of any clan-spec mechs ever popping up during the battle.(Though shortly after it a caravan of military trucks brought many huge pieces of debris to a restricted area.)

interesting unit and fluff.

Thanks for trying to get the main information in the stats. It does help alot trying to read it.

I guess you had to pull the infantry out because of the lack of deployment rules, but it still is a good unit.
Just curious, but what's up with the c3? It sounds like the unit is deployed solo alot.

It fit easily. It'd probably be deployed with a group of four vessels, which may or may not be 4 Mauna Key IIs. So it'd be sort of alone but not quite.

If it is alone, fighting something like sea pirates with little more than machineguns and maybe an RPG, that 1 spare ton will (hopefully) not be too great of a loss to the ship's survivability or firepower.

Looks interesting. Not sure what the issue is with the infantry. Over all a decent wet naval unit.

And the format/template looks good. Makes it easy to follow and give us the needed information into how it works.

And in naval terms, 54kph os very respectable.
There'll be the devil to pay mate. Better make it good, eh?
