Design one mech in each weight category, Light, Medium, Heavy, Assault.
I wonder what it would look like where energy weapons are not the master of the battle field
Design Rules Mechs get one free heat sink for each 25 of the engine rating for standard fusion engines and one free heat sink for every 35 rating for an EX engine. All extra heat sinks are at standard weight and space All Inner Sphere tech of 3050 or before is allowed with the exception of double heat sinks. MRMs are allowed at half weight for the launchers. All LRMs and SRMs are at Clan weights and space. Only the Strick SRM-2 is allowed. The Artemis IV FCS is also allowed. ACs have the heat of AC/2 & AC/5 0 heat Ulrta AC/5 at double rate 1 heat AC/10 & LB 10-X 1 heat AC/20 3 heat
Why argue if the glass is half full or half empty, when you know someone is going to knock it over and spill it anyways.

So the xl engine gets an extra heat sink for the 35 ratings in addition to the free one for each 25 rating?
An honestly, with the extra heat sinks, you will probably get more energy weapons with the possible exception of the lrms. I think that will increase now because of the range.

No, its every 35 instead of the 25. There is less room for free heat sinks in the EX engine.

thought it needed to be cleared up.
Sorry I had the wrong idea. I would figure that was part of the extra bulk in the engine.
Thinking about it, the engine should be sized on the output needed, ie cannons and missiles low output, while gauss or energy weapons should require more. Yes, weight and speed have some part, but should not be the whole thing..
