Discovered in 3139, the planet Denahugh was settled in 3140. Located just outside Federated Suns space in the Spinward Periphery, Denahugh proved to be a treasure trove of minerals and agricultural resources. Many AFFC and some LCAF veterans settled on the planet, finding life to be quite peaceable and enjoyable on the temperate planet. With rifles stored away, mechs mothballed, and tanks semi-converted to jury-rigged farm equipment; the settlers were not quite ready for what they found. A massive cache of SLDF tanks, engines, weapons, electronics and other vintage equipment was found along with what could only be described as an "Omni-Factory", capable of producing almost any of the equipment used by the SLDF, including Fusion and Fusion XL engines. Though they tried to keep it hidden, word leaked out and the settlers found themselves fighting a desperate defense against rogue AFFC elements, pirates, and treasure hunters. Thus came to be a series of vehicles taking full advantage of SLDF technology to defend the previously peaceable planet. Mechs were quickly repaired and reactivated after several years of utility use, and the engineers and techs in the colony went to work building vehicles with common SLDF level equipment.

Overview: After rediscovering an ancient and unknown SLDF cache of equipment in 3145; the (mostly AFFC veteran) settlers of the world Denahugh found themselves under assault by pirates and a radical faction within the Federated Suns itself. With a large supply of tank chassis', armor, weapons, and electronics of the Star League era; the settlers built two tank chassis' known as the "Resist" and "Bite." The Resist was designed as a devastating lineholder that not only could strike at range, but would be brutal in close combat. A Gauss Rifle set into a very conventional looking tank turret provides the long-range letahlity wanted by the soldiers. At close range, four medium lasers covering the left, front, and right arcs allows the tank to smack-down any hostiles who dare approach. A quartet of SSRM2's in a boxy launcher(that may very well be from an unknown variant of the Manticore) are mounted on the turret for additional firepower at knife-fighting ranges. Lastly, four VGL's are mounted on the turret, typically carrying smoke, IR smoke, or fragmentation grenades; these VGL's provide a good measure of utility ability to the tank.

Overview: To back the Resist up, the settlers of Denahugh also constructed the "Bite", which was designed as a medium range general purpose combatant. Mounting an LBX-10 and Large Laser for general combat, the Bite also features a quartet of machine guns to protect against infantry. An unusual feature of the vehicle is that the Large Laser can be semi-detached to act as a swivel-mount gun for firing at hostile VTOL's. When used like this, the laser can attack in any direction, but also becomes more vulnerable and suffers from the same effects as a weapon with poor armoring on the linkage system.

Through fierce determination and nearly limitless military supplies due to the amazing factory in the SLDF base, the 1st and 2nd "Denahugh Defenders" regiments managed to hold the line, but a new tank was needed. One Major Hellmann insisted on a 100 ton design, though the AFFC troopers insisted on overhauling some of the ancient Enforcers deep in the caches with Royal level equipment. The Lyrans won out with a simple coin toss, though would later grumble in anger when their selected chassis was found to be incompatible with the 300 XL engine that had been chosen for the design. Regardless, the resulting Man O' War tank was a successful design.

Overview: As the battle for Denahugh wore on, the defenders built the 95 ton Man O' War tank off of what was orginally a 100 ton chassis(with significant influence by the armored veterans of LCAF units). However issues occurred when the massive XL 300 engines that had recently been found deep in the cache would not link correctly with the hull. This required the wily engineers to redesign the rear of the upcoming design, and in turn shaved off so much internal structure in the attempt to "fix" the issue that the vehicle ended up lighter. Apologizing for the mistake, the engineers filled the tank to the brim with weaponry, and also realized that the XL300 engines now had no purpose...thus some 285's were dug up to replace them. First off, a UAC/5 and PPC provide a brutal ranged punch; backed at close ranges by an enormous AC/20, two medium lasers, four machine guns, and an SRM4. The first tank off the line was nicknamed "Mechslayer" after successfully ambushing and destroying an Atlas III with the help of some allied anti-mech infantry. Despite the Atlas pilot's best efforts, it is rather difficult to stay standing when a long burst of 55mm shells, a PPC blast, and an enormous 215mm shell hammer your sprinting mech in city streets. As the stunned pilot moved to lift his sorry ol' mech off the ground, the "Mechslayer's" crew decided to pay the pilot a little visit and drove the 95 ton vehicle right onto the Atlas' torso while infantry moved to secure the cockpit. The torso was crushed, and the Vlar 300 engine was damaged beyond repair along with the torso weaponry.

Though celebrated for their dramatic "kill" on a brand new Atlas III piloted by the Davion's XO, the crew of Mechslayer encountered trouble with their techs. The mech's advanced torso weaponry had been devastated, and the engine was irreparable. Working through the next three days, the engineers managed to overhaul the mech, with the addition of a mysteriously acquired Clan ECM Suite. When questioned about where it was acquired, the head Tech merely mumbled, gestured, and walked away scratching his head.

Overview: After Mechslayer destroyed an unfortunate Davion officer's Atlas III with the incredibly ballsy move of driving on to a prone mech's torso with an assault tank; the Denahughians found themselves with a mostly working assault mech. Though the advanced arm weapons survived the chest crushing, the interior and torsos were an absolute mess. Starting with the engine, the Denahugh techs installed an enormous 400 XL fusion powerplant to drive the Atlas III to 64.8 kph. The original torso missiles were irreparable, and the Denahugh techs instead used six vintage SLDF SSRM2's. A small pulse laser was also installed with the Medium X-Pulses to fend off infantry. Lastly, a GECM suite was mounted to provide some measure of electronic protection.

Led by their new Atlas III, the 1st and 2nd Denahugh Defenders were able to make a two battalion night raid on the pirate base, capturing a Leopard class dropship and additional mechs and tanks of tech that met 3040 standards. Ready to put the machines to good use, the Denahugh Defenders headed home, ready to meet the Davions in battle...
There'll be the devil to pay mate. Better make it good, eh?
