==Overview:==
The Capellan Confenderation went about producing the Lightning as a companion
mech to their 70-ton heavy mech, the Thunder.

==Capabilities:==
      The Lightning LTNG-1L is a 60-ton heavy 'Mech put into production
following the successful field test of the Thunder.
     The Mydron Excel LB 10-X AC autocannon is the 'Mech's main weapon,
supplied with two tons of ammunition for a total of  20 rounds firing solid or
cluster round ammunition. Complementing the autocannon is a Telos SRM-4 rack
in the left torso area, supplied with one ton of 25 rounds of ammunition. The
Lightning also has three Ceres Arms Model W medium pulse lasers for
close-combat support fixed across the torso very much like the Thunder.. Both
the autocannon and the missile ammo bins are protected by CASE in the right
torso.
     The Lightning can move up to 97.2  km/h, thanks to a massive 360 Hermes
XL engine. The 'Mech also runs fairly cool thanks to the ten double heat sinks
which disspate the heat from the weapon systems and from movement. Eleven tons
of ferro-fiberous armor provide nearly the full maximum protection the endo
steel structure is capable of mounting.

==Variants:==
The only known variant trades the LB-10X for a Large Pulse Laser and another
Medium Pulse Laser in the center torso. Four Additional heatsinks are
installed to handle the higher heat output.
