Overview:
An unlikely design with an unlikely name, the Appleton is designed along the
same philosophy as the old Griffin: moderate speed, good Jump mobility,
long-range Primary weapons.

The LPPC/LB 5-X AC combination provides excellent range as well as versatility
if equipped with both Slug and Cluster ammo, and the close-range assortment
provides both power and accuracy.

Capabilities:
While not as fast or heavily armoured as most 'Mechs of its size and era, the
Appleton is nevertheless a versatile total package.

The Endo Steel Chassis, Light Fusion Engine, and Light Ferro Fibrous Armour
save enough tonnage to mount the two large Primary weapons and still have
enough space for significant supporting weaponry. In close, two ER Medium
Lasers for versatility, a Medium Pulse Laser for accuracy, and a Small Pulse
Laser for anti-Infantry work give it the tools for any mission.

Variants:
Two variants have been proposed for the Appeton, both with the same general
purpose.

The first trades the Medium Pulse Laser for an ERSmal Laser and adds an ECM
Suite, while the second drops both Puse Lasers for both ECM and a Beagle Active
Probe. However, space limitations require the removal of the acuators in the
Left Arm in order to mount the bulkier equipment.

Test pilots have also been overheard discussing a field modification, trading
the MPL for a third ERML, and boosting the Appleton's armour coverage.

MY BLURB:
The Light PPC is really growing on me. I think there are better options for the Clan-Invasion era, but it would have been a highly useful weapon back in 3025. Still, it's a good choice to give Light and Medium 'Mechs a decent long-range weapon without committing a lot of tonnage.

Why the LB 5-X? I don't know...maybe because I never use them?
Peace is that glorious moment in history when everyone stands around reloading.

This one has an appeal of being different going for it, yes it is based on the style/role of the Griffin but it has a weapons mix that can appeal to many playing styles.

Actually looks like a lighter version of the Zeus.
Change on one ml for an srm 2 and you got a variant of the shadowhawk.

It is an interesting mix of weapons though...
