==Overview:==
The original Panther was designed as a fire support unit for scout units,
originally built by the first Star League. The Draconis Combine, the only
Successor State who manufactures and fields large number of Panthers,
redeveloped and produces the Panther II with more modern systems and upgraded
weaponry.

==Capabilities:==
The Panther II's main weapon is a Lord Light's III Heavy Particle Projection
Cannon. Due to the weapons massive size and heat output, Draconis Combine
engineers completely redesign the Panther's chassis and arm assembly to mount
and cool the weapon while at the same time providing an adequate amount of
armor to protect the weapon. As such, the Panther II lacks a hand actuator on
the right arm. A single double heatsink is mounted on the weapon, but due to
poor armor plating can be easily disabled. For close-in weaponry, the Panther
II mounts a Telos Three-Shot MML-3 in the center torso, along with one ton of
ammunition protected by CASE. A single Diplan M3 Medium Laser on the left arm
provides additional protection. Seven tons of standard armor protect the mech,
while 10 double heatsinks maintain heat levels produced by the mech.

==Variants:==
The PNT-2-4K is an minor field change to incorporate the mech into C3 lances.
The MML-3 launcher and ammo, along with the CASE system are removed to add a
PPC Capacitor to the right arm, along with a C3 Slave into center torso, and
one additional heatsink. Other custom variants remove the Medium Laser in
favor of a adding a Capacitor to the Heavy PPC, while retaining the
multi-missile launcher.

A Panther with more fang. I wanted to incorporate the C3 Slave, PPC Capacitor, heatsink, along with a targeting computer in a single mech, but that required increasing the weight to 45 tons. To me, a Panther is a light weight, heavy hitter and at that weight I would dub the mech a Vindicator II.

It also has a good price tag for something mounting such a strong weapon too.

I love putting big guns on little 'Mechs. The original Panther was all about putting a Heavy 'Mech's weapon a Light 'Mech...this takes it to the next level. A lance if these could be highly effective, especially in a defensive action.
Peace is that glorious moment in history when everyone stands around reloading.

Seconded. That's an excellent use of new weapons technology.
