Overview:
The Capellan Confederation has long struggled to maintain parity with its
neighbours. The crippling received during the 4th Succession War took decades
to overcome and even after a century some parts of the Confederation have yet
to fully recover.

In order to boost the economy, it was decided to offer a number of Capellan
mechs for export. The venerable Vindicator being the first in the series.

Capabilities:
The 7Lx export model uses the same skeleton, engine, armour and jump jets as
the original 4L model, but makes certain changes in the weaponry.

The original Ceres Arms Smasher PPC was retained, though lacking the special
cooling jacket and nozzle. Instead it uses a more conventional cooling sleeve
that has reduced the PPC cycle time by nearly two seconds compared to the
original.

The other weaponry was replaced by newer tech. The Medium Laser was upgraded
to an extended range version, while the Small Laser uses pulse technology
making it more effective against enemy infantry. The most important change is
the switch from an LRM5 to an MML9 nearly doubling the weapon's long range
firepower and giving it extra short range firepower.

CASE protects the ammo from explosions, while 10 double-strength heat sinks
provide the necessary cooling ability.

Battle History:
The 7Lx is sold mainly in the Periphery and to mercenaries. A few other
Successor States have purchased this model in small numbers, mainly as militia
mechs in quiet sectors.

The Vindicator is quite suited to service in the Periphery where it faces
enemies of the same level of ability.

For mercenaries it's a decent trooper mech, although it lacks the speed of more
modern machines the standard engine is less vulnerable to penetrating damage.

Deployment:
The 7Lx remains rare in the Confederation itself. The Magistracy of Canopus
purchased some numbers for their military. Most have been sold to Periphery
states.

Variants:
With better than hoped sales, the Vindicator will soon be offered with two
options. The first replaces the PPC with an ER version, while the second adds
triple strength myomer.

Demand for upgrade kits and this newer model is high and it is expected that
this variant may replace the current version once stocks of the old PPC's run
out.

any variants that use the lppc? or maybe upgrade to the hppc?
the ppc capacitor might be another option.

It is unusual that there is not a version the confederation would keep for itself that does not have stealth armor.

Have you tried the erll?

This variant is supposed to be the equivalent of Russian "monkey" export models, designed to be made cheaply using existing production lines and using surplus parts from upgrades. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Export_variants_of_Soviet_military_equipment

The models in Capellan service are mostly awarded to mercenaries or units whose loyalty is questionable. Similarly the Canopians are buying them for political reasons mostly.

It's an ok mech for backwater militias and Periphery states.

A twin light PPC with a Rocket Launcher 15 variant is likely should the ER PPC prove to be too difficult and expensive to export in larger numbers.
