Overview:
The next in the series of Capellan export models, the Raven XP was extremely
well received.

Capabilities:
At the same time as the Raven II took the field, the Raven XP appeared and
seems like a retread compared to its more advanced counterpart, but the rugged,
stripped down version is exactly what many units are looking for, a simple EW
mech suitable for the lance/company level or HQ units.

The Raven XP lacks the XL engine of the 3L model, which reduces the speed to
86kph, but makes it less vulnerable to penetrating hits.

Having ditched the unpopular NARC launcher, it retains the TAG, ECM and Probe
and makes room for a pair of light PPC's and three medium lasers. Freed from
ammo constraints the Raven XP can operate for extended periods and stand off
enemy mechs, holding its own against most light mechs should it be forced to do
so.

Six and a half ton of armour give the Raven reasonable protection, as the mech
is not designed to be a front line combat unit.

Battle History:
The Raven XP has been an unexpected success, the rugged mech has found many
customers in the Inner Sphere rather. Oddly enough sales in the Periphery have
been lagging due to the lack of advanced weaponry that have made the ECM and
TAG combination so useful in the Inner Sphere.

Variants:
Being a stripped down export versions, the Capellans haven't created any
official variants, but certain field modifications have been quite popular.

The first replaces the armour with Ferro-Fibrous, giving better protection.
This allows the Raven to fight in the front lines if required.

Another mod drops the TAG or a medium laser for a C3 Slave, while a similar but
rare conversion drops one of the Light PPC's, TAG and Medium laser for a C3
Master.

Finally swapping the medium lasers for ER versions is quite common in Inner
Sphere units, though it can lead to overheating if the pilot does not keep an
eye on the heat gauge.

Interesting take on the raven.
I like the removal of the narc, since it really shouldnt be in range to fire one off, except in a fire and run situation. The lack of jets makes that hard to do against most lights, and even some mediums.

I can see some of the pilots getting brave and trying to fight more then the should with the ppcs, being as its main purpose it ew support. But it does give it a better chance to survive.
