Morning, Nic.

Would it be possible to have the search bar be located above the article, when viewed on the mobile site? Sometimes, articles are rather lengthy and require more finger-scrolling than my overly entitled self should have to put up with, in order to get to the search field.

Bump. I didn't use the mobile site much, but ever since a recent change I can't edit whole articles anymore. The formatting in the page header is a bit weird, with a big empty section before the header; the Like, Google & Twitter buttons are not exactly where they should be methinks, and the edit article button is simply gone. Section edit buttons are still there.

So anybody will ever answer me? There once was lightweight (no pictures, almost only text) sarna.net, I used it easily on my phone but I can't find it anymore.

Hi Kharim,

I removed it when the site was transitioned to a "responsive" theme, which should look great on desktop, tablet and mobile.

Is there a reason you preferred the "stripped down" experience over the current site?

The lightweigt version uses less bandwidth. When browsing from phone, while connected via 3g it eats less transfer. Not everybody has free WiFi all the time. For example- imagine a small hut in a middle of forest with mobile phone as only source of internet and sarna as only source of Battletech resources.
It is a matter of data transfer economy. For example when browsing BT forums I use WAP2 so I see text only- not a single picture is displayed. Using lightweight versions lets me browse more without running out of transfer limit.

Hi Kharim,

Note with the upgrade to MediaWiki v1.24, the mobile site has been updated. It should still be pretty minimal, but the new mobile frontend gives a few additional features and a better nav bar.

Hi! Just wanted to say that the searchbar in the top is a godsend! Saves a lot of time and is very convinient.
