It was decided that the Assinine Industries Ambassador class corvette Jenny needed some drop ships to accompany her. Instead of going with a standard military dropships that would stick out as a sore thumb as military ships it was decided that something that could pass as being harmless was needed. So some Mule class cargo transports where modified for the warships dropship needs. Because of the Mules large size a great deal could be done with the ship. First thing that was done was that its structural integrity was heavily reinforced so it can carry a great deal more armor. It armor protection was increased by over four fold.
The Filly dropship is meant to secure a space port for the arrival of the Ambassador where the local government is not so friendly. The ships on board first line of defense is its Long Tom III artillery Cannon. The next layer of defense is the four mechs and twelve medium tanks that the Filly carries. If some enemy forces get past the mechs and tanks then there is the twelve extended range large lasers on each side. If something gets past that then the ship has its twelve large pulse lasers on each side can take over. The ships last layer of defense are the armored and unarmored infantry. But before even getting to the Filly one has to avoid the Warship Jenny's medium NPPC and the four wings of assault class fighters that the Jenny and the Colt carries.
The ship has no concern of being boarded in space. There is just no way to fight your way past over two hundred and fifty armored and unarmored infantrymen. Even when grounded that would be a tall order.
With just over 23.5% of the ships weight for cargo that would give the Filly lander a lot of missions that she could perform in. Granted it could take days to unload a large amount of vehicles and troops do to not being designed to unload such cargo in a very short time. But between the two ships just over ten thousand tons cargo capacity of the Filly and the Jenny that can represent a very large army or to resupply an army that is already in the field.
Why argue if the glass is half full or half empty, when you know someone is going to knock it over and spill it anyways.
