A common joke heard in aerospace port bars around the Inner Sphere, nothing else can quite describe the Starlifter Heavy Cargo Shuttle. a thin skinned cargo-container encased in another thin layer of metal. Bolted on one end is spartan quarters with minimally functial life support and thrusters barely powerful enough to be rated more then pyrotechnic on the other.
==Capabilities:== The Starlifter Heavy Cargo Shuttle was designed in the early era of space flight as a means to get het heavy loads into orbit at an economical cost. No other small space craft is capable of matching its capablility of lifting 125.5 tons into orbit, only a drop ship is capable of lifting more. The trade off for this enourmous cargo capacity is severly limited fuel capacity, just enough to lift the ship to into orbit or a short range shuttle hop.The secondary cargo bay can be converted to carry an additional 25 tons of fuel, doubling its flight range. Dispite this limitation, the ship is equipped with a month's worth of supplies for the crew. A single escape pod is available for the crew to reach its intended destination should the Starlifter run out of fuel.

That is not a legal design to obtain orbit, you require a safe thrust of at least a 2 to leave a 1G gravity well.
This design could be used for launching and landing on a micro gravity planet or moon.
Why argue if the glass is half full or half empty, when you know someone is going to knock it over and spill it anyways.
I was a Major *pain* before
But I got a promotion.
I am now a General *pain*
Yay for promotions!!!

Glad someone besides me pointed that out.
Another use for this is transporting items to stations in space, such as from a Behemoth dropship to a space factory. Safer then trying to dock directly to the station.
Granted once you get it to your destination, it can be used to move cargo on the planet without going orbital, but honestly, an aerodyne would be more suited for that then a spheroid.
