I did just run a 3025 merc-vs-pirate battle that was 4 assault 'Mechs versus (among others) 3 Wasps, 2 Locusts, 3 Stingers. Since the mercs were busy trying to deal with the pirate Archer, Phoenix Hawk, Shadow Hawk, and Banshee, they most ignored the 20-ton units that were sniping their rears.
Once the Archer blew itself up from overheating, the Banshee was shot to garbage, and the Phoenix Hawk surrendered, then the 20-ton units were turned into confetti. But before then, they did their jobs of jumping around and firing into rear arcs of much larger, tougher 'Mechs.

Not to mention that, aside from the LRM, the Atlas has nothing to counter the Dasher's ER Medium Lasers. Or Medium Pulse Lasers. Or whatever other weapons the chosen variant carries that shoot beyond 9 hexes. With the Dasher's speed, it has a pretty good chance of surviving until the LRM Ammo is exhausted, at which point the Atlas is in for a really bad day. Particularly if you give the Dasher a Clan pilot.
A more appropriate comment on the MEME would have been "attacks an Atlas with a Stinger". Or possibly an UrbanMech.
