I always liked ultra-light mechs so I made a dedicated scout that is relatively cheap. (around 2 mil c-bills)

This has some interesting uses, one would expect to see it in the Periphery or with merc units that are down on their luck and need something to get them a better paying job.

I was thinking about making a variant with ECM, or some sort of stealth armor. So it would purely be a stealth/recon/transport mech.
But I dont think it will work because its an ultra-light.

A ten ton vehicle would be far more cost affective and could survive a hit better. One PPC hit to the arm and the center torso is totally wiped out of armor and internal structure.
Why argue if the glass is half full or half empty, when you know someone is going to knock it over and spill it anyways.

Honestly would prefer something like a Locust. Not as fast but cheaper and more durable. A down and out mech unit would not really want to use ammo weapons as that cuts into the bottom line. At 1.5 mil a copy for the Locust, you could also get parts for it fro less.
And sadly, a ppc is not needed to wipe it out, a medium laser would just about destroy this mech with a singe shot.
But still it would be interesting for a training mech.
Cost would need to come down some for more useful deployment.

I was pointing out that if this mech was hit anywhere with just one PPC hit it would be destroyed.
It could take four medium laser hits and keep going. If the hits where in the left and right arm/torso, center torso, and in the head.
Why argue if the glass is half full or half empty, when you know someone is going to knock it over and spill it anyways.

That is correct for center torso destruction, since they would probably scatter. But with hitting the possibility of crits, it may just wipe out the engine or ammo with the loss of a limb. Criticals transfer.
Sorry. I forgot arms go thru side torsos before center, but with the engine type in this mech, you would shut it down with the ppc, but need a second hit with a medium laser in the side the first one hit. A single medium laser would leg it.

I still can't get past the XXL engine. Seems like far too advanced and precious a piece of tech to put on such a fragile platform.

Yeah I made it for the heck of it. Not really a realistic mech (not that mechs are realistic).
