Because I did something similar for the BattleMaster, I wanted to see if I could do a Retrotech Atlas.

Main gun got changed from an AC/20 to binary laser cannon, which gives it a headcapper that can reach out to 15 hexes, but is still somewhat primitive. Arm medium lasers were kept for flanker, and missile launchers were replaced with rockets for volume of fire, which small missile launchers couldn't do. Mimicking the old short Real Partha Atlas mini, figure the RL10s are the ten-tube launchers in each side torso, with two rockets per tube, while the RL15 replaces the hip LRM lancher. Heat dissipation could be better, but up close you can alternate between the blazer and MLs for heat management, and the armor is as thick as ever.

I'm still debating this one: I could slow it to 2/3 and gain an additional 22.5 tons of mass for weaponry and heat sinks, at the cost of being a slug.

Thought about a Thumper instead of the Arrow IV, but decided this was more amusing.

I think I'd take the slug-like form. The 3/5 is just too undergunned and didn't look much like a classic Atlas, while this has all the classic weapon stations with some interesting upgrades.

Me, too. I'm just not sure if I like the idea of the artillery Atlas or more conventional assault Atlas better.

The artillery provdes a great deal more reach and interesting options, but leaves it far more vulnerable if someone gets close, without using on-board artillery rules, which I lack much experience with.

Don't know of primitive or retrotech allows tags, but installing one on the mech would allow it to self target the artillery. I believe flight time is one round, but not sure anymore.
Granted you would need homing missiles.

I would believe the light ppc is more high tech compared to the normal ones, but no info to confirm/deny that.

TAG would be fine, actually, with RetroTech: since you're building a primitive BattleMech in the modern era. Ditto the light PPCs, if you can get them from a supplier, or if your weapons lines aren't blowed up.
