The Blood Raven was designed to be used in conjunction with the Ghost Owl and both were developed by Ristock Free Worlds Industries. It mounts narc capable ammo for both of its missile launchers, a LRM 5 and 10. This allows it to hit with more missiles and not waste any space on its own mech bringing an artemis IV as long as there is a naarc capable mech, such as the Ghost Owl. For extra long range it mounts 3 AC/2s on its right arm and gives it a significant range factor. Heat buildup was not too much of an issue, so Ristock left the cheaper single heat sinks in the Blood Raven. Ammo was a little bit of a concern, but it can stay on the battlefield for a moderate amount of time before it must reload.
However, despite its range, the Blood Raven was not very well received by House Marik. Despite being a cheaper, well armored 55 ton mech with a 120 meter jump range, it lacks any weapon without ammo. As such, its prolonged field use is limited. Secondly, it really needs a narc capable mech to do its full potential of damage, and not every unit had a Ghost Owl with a Blood Raven as Ristock intended. And most importantly to most mechwarriors, the Blood Raven did not have any close range firepower. Once an enemy mech crossed past 120 meters, its weaponry became very unwieldy.
Some variations were created, such as mounting ppcs or large lasers in place of the AC/2, but heat became a very real and serious problem and most mechwarriors said they would rather have the faster Griffin instead of the Blood Raven. Despite its lackluster performance, Ristock Free Worlds Industries still promotes the Blood Raven and pushes for its use with the Ghost Owl. They still make the argument that the range of its AC/2s keep it out of harms way and the sheer volume of missiles will strip enemy mechs of their armor and with 10 tons of its own armor, a stray shot here or there is nothing, and it can jump and relocate to a better firing position as needed. Only time will tell if the Blood Raven can keep up with its brother the Ghost Owl, or if Ristock's Blood Raven will become the butt of so many MechWarrior jokes.

That's funny. I used to play 40k but never the video games, so I didn't even think of that. I better change the name before games workshop sues me.
