The Supersalticidae is an upgrade to the previous Salticidae Raider Mech. Most of the secondary armament is dropped for a third large pulse laser, and it's jumping capabilities is pushed to the feasible limit, now maxing out in excess of 200 meters. The SuperSalticidae, like the significantly cheaper Salticidae, is a murderous mech that can annihilate a foe caught off-guard, while still being extremely difficult to disable even when you expect them.

The Supersalticidae was introduced as an experiment to push assault recon and raider mechs to the physical limit. Instead of going for brute ground speed like the Charger, Supersalti designers went the jump jet route. Six improved jump jets and a partial wing system resulted in a massive, heat efficient jumping speed which exceeded it's running speed. With jumping power that rivals some light mechs, the Salticidae is sometimes deployed in a recon or recon hunting role.

Being an incredibly evasive target, reflective armor substitutes standard armor to provide additional protection to energy weapons such as large pulse lasers. As such, the weapons that are most likely to hit a Supersalti are also the least effective in actually damaging it. However, the armor also restricts it's abilities in close quarters; Only highly experienced pilots are allowed to engage in melee with other mechs, and DFAs are very strictly prohibited by the SuperSalticidae handbook. Concerns with armor-piercing weaponry and artillery-grade weapons must be noted as well, or risk losing your high-tech gadgets to a few, cheap, big boomstick.

The SuperSalticidae is intended to function well in most environments. Laser Heatsinks allows consistent heat sinking regardless of whether the environment is a desert or a polar ice cap, "heavy" atmospheres or vacuums. Though the wings don't work in trace atmospheres and vacuums, the speed given by the iJJs and heat sinking of the integral 13 laser heatsinks is generally considered sufficient for the weapons loadout.

The 340 XLE itself has subtypes that use standard double heat sinks instead of laser heatsinks. Both types have been mounted on the SuperSalticidae, with the double sink versions commonly being deployed to exceptionally cold regions or planets with an extended night cycle, while laser sink versions are often deployed to exceptionally hot regions or planets with considerable light coverage.
