Overview
Designed for transporting the riches of asteroid mines between the mines and nearby Droppers, the Motherlode was a cheap cargo hauling craft produced by Platypus 'Mech Works during the Star League.
Capabilities
A standard fusion reactor enabled reasonable speeds for shuttling cargo in a timely manner, with up to 5 G's of safe acceleration.
Twelve and a half tons of armor provided some protection from light weaponry or industrial accidents, and a seven-ton fuel tank was installed inside the Motherlode's hull. The remaining 100 tons were devoted to a massive cargo bay, used to transport ore and/or other raw materials.
Deployment
The craft was usually used to transport ore/raw materials, but due to its relatively good speeds for a cargo hauler, and nondescript appearance, during the Succession Wars, surviving Motherlodes were pressed into service by smugglers.
During the days of the Star League, the Motherlode was often also used to ferry IndustrialMechs and/or security units to their worksites, when it would be inconvenient and/or illogical to use a Dropship. This method also allowed a single dropper with more than one small craft bay to be the communications/refueling hub for several mining locations at once.
Variants
None, although some pirates apparently used refitted Motherlodes to haul 'Mechs, as its 100-ton cargo bay could, with a bit of retooling, accommodate even a massive Atlas assault 'Mech!

As I was going over the design I was going "WTF!!!" but then when I read the description I was "OH! that's why."

I think its a very good design for what it was built for doing. Good speed and good armor to keep highly valuable cargo protected from bandits. I would have added that its very common to have a fighter escort.
Why argue if the glass is half full or half empty, when you know someone is going to knock it over and spill it anyways.

I was a Major *pain* before
But I got a promotion.
I am now a General *pain*
Yay for promotions!!!

Thanks
Maybe I'll make a cheap aero fighter to go with it...

What the...why is it listing 0.0 tons for the engine, and why did it give it an engine rating?

Now just make a small craft carrier warship and load assault mechs into all of the Motherlodes. No need for putting all your eggs into one egg-shaped dropship anymore. It's almost like cheating.

Looks like the came out with a newer engine type. Anti grav. It negates the weight of the engine.

Seriously, I guess remlab beta has a few flaws in it. I would suggest checking other aeroships created by it.

Looked at a few others and they are weight to the engines. Might be this size has an issue.

There is nothing wrong with putting a mech in a cargo hold as standard cargo and not put into a mech bay. The problem with putting it in as cargo is it cant just walk out when the ship lands it has to be unpacked which can take hours or even days depending what else is in the cargo hold and if there is enough room for the mech to walk out with out help or it has to be taken out with special heavy duty cargo moving equipment. Also very little if anything at all can be done with the mech during the time its in the cargo hold do to being stored with other cargo that is in the way of getting to parts of the mech.

Since this is an aerodyne small craft I would say that a mech would have to be loaded on its back using heavy duty loading equipment that can handle a mech of its weight, which "if available" at the time of loading and unloading, it should not take more than an hour or two to pack or unpack a mech.

If you took the time to add up the numbers you would find that there is 46 tons that are not accounted for. That is of course if the 21 tons for the crew where accounted for properly by the program.

the anti grav engine was a poor attempt at a joke.
I don't have the newer rules for aerotech, just the first ones. And they don't really deal with cargo ships

Getting off subject, but you are the only one that can use that joke without if being thought as a personal dig.
