decent idea, but a pure ammo slow assault mech sounds like a moving target. Once you fire off the 12 lrm rounds, you have the same issue the atlas had. Short range weapons only. Also if the stats read right, you have a whole 5 shots per cannon. Not something that would be considered good on an assault mech.
I would say this configuration is more of a target then an asset. At least the original had the large laser, which for an assault mech isn't much.

It has 7.5 shots per cannon. There are three tons off ammo.
I have to totally agree with your assessment of how bad of a design this is with its total lack of ammo for a mech that has no energy weapons.
Why argue if the glass is half full or half empty, when you know someone is going to knock it over and spill it anyways.

It was supposed to be a sort of ELRM platform. It didn't work out so well.
Here's a better, more conventional King Crab. ---- IS TW non-box set 100 tons BV: 2,208 Cost: 12,928,000 C-bills

Try an archer, crusader, or catapult with the erlrms. Hell even a grasshopper might be a good platform. The biggest problem with the king crab is the ac 20s. Too much is needed to keep them when you are looking for some extra weight.
I was going to ask why you didn't use the xl engine in the original, until I looked at the prices. If not for that, the xl in the original may have been what you needed to open up the weight for a long range energy weapon.
Though if you really want an erlrm platform, try a locust or other light mech. Now that would be something to reach out and touch someone type of unit.

I would suggest dropping the ER PPC to a ER Large Laser. I would ditch the two extra heat sinks that you wont need not having the ER PPC. Then use the four tons you save for three more tons of AC standard ammo and one ton of Cluster ammo. I consider 10 shots each weapon the bare minimum number of shots for any weapon.

Would like to know if it is innersphere tech or clan tech.
Now I did think of a set of scenarios that the original posted mech would excel in. Defense of a munitions factory is the main one. A well laid out approach would give them a chance to fire at enemies, exhausting their ammo, and allow another unit to take their spot while they reload nearby. Something like this would mean the mech isn't at a big disadvantage. It could hold off a large number of attackers if they had no other way of getting in.

Well since it says IS I am guessing its Inner Sphere.
Someone was remembering William H. Keith, Jr's Book Operation Excalibur about the Gray Death Legion.

It did influence the idea. I had a few ideas about doing something like a long passage way into an underground factory before the novel, but no one would believe it.
Biggest problem using this mech for this idea is the lack of hands. Otherwise it would be somewhat of an idea mech to guard the factory. Have a reload bay behind several meters of ferrocrete or heavy armored walls. With hands, you could actually use the mech to help production by doing some heavy lifting.
