Between MGs or Magshot which would you use if you had a choice and why?

MG's--more ammo-efficient, less range, same damage, more common so easier to get parts for.
If it was a case of raw output, I'd take magshots for the tripled range.

If I can keep it in supply, the Magshot is definitely the superior weapon for fighting both mechs and infantry, unless there's around... infinite infantry companies, in which case a SPL trumps both.

Magshot. Not only due to the range but because the explosion is far less damaging.

Now with both the spl and mgs, it was shown that if infantry, especially battle armor close to fire normal rifles, you are in a bad situation. The spl is not going to do enough to kill the infantry. Range is always good, but can't always be had.

I don't see anything indicating Magshots do extra damage against infantry. They seem, more than anything else, to be a replacement for the SRM rack in an environment where AMS is highly common.

This isn't a fair apples-to-apples comparison. Magshot is not an AI weapon and is more closely-related to the AP Gauss than a MG.
