Overview
The Banestalker was designated by Damage, Inc. for Generalist/Direct Fire Support duties, and had a varied but effective loadout.
It was intended to fill the gaps left in the venerable, legendary Atlas' less than efficient loadout, and to go toe to toe with the likes of the Gunslinger, which it consistently beat in simulations due to heavier armor, and a more durable engine.
Capabilities
The common, reliable Vlar 300 Standard Fusion Engine powered the Banestalker at speeds of 53 kph, average for most assault 'Mechs. An Endo-Steel chassis and 19.5 tons of standard armor, with CASE in the right torso, saved between them enough weight and space to install, among other things, sixteen double heat sinks. The hand actuators were removed from both arms and replaced in each arm with a Light Gauss Rifle, with two tons of ammo in the left torso. This gave the Banestalker incredible effective range and staying power. No slouch in close quarters either was this 'Mech; one each of head and center torso mounted ER Medium Lasers were supported by a Medium Pulse Laser in each side torso, as well as three Streak SRM-4's, one in each torso location; one ton of ammo was a bit skimpy, but with Streak upgrades installed on the launcher, the ammo wouldn't go to waste. Finally, for anti-infantry work, a Small Pulse Laser was mounted in each side torso. Another potent weapon of the Banestalker, often overlooked due to its design geared mainly towards fire support, were its kicks--the leg actuators were reinforced to allow devastating, crippling kicks capable of knocking down an enemy if not destroying their own legs outright, dealing damage on par with an AC/20.
