=============================================================================== Overview:
Throughout the WoB Jihad, Dynamics corporation on Gallery routinely teamed with Heretic BattleMechs, a small startup design and concept company, to try to break into the BattleMech Market.
With a design limit of 55 tons, they looked at producing many different variants of concepts.
Capabilities:
The Idolator was apparently conceived to fulfill the position of a medium weight slasher 'mech. Something that could control the battlefield, get in, do its damage, and get out, all the while frustrating its opponents.
What was eventually conceived was a low-to-the ground Quad design, with a collapse-able vane partial wing system.
Numerous design features were factored into the design. The first being, of course, its partial wing system, giving it an impressive jump of 210 meters in a standard pressure atmosphere.
Furthermore, all of its jump jets are located in its torsos, to allow the quad design to have as much access to its thrust rating, irrespective of terrain. This would also allow the Idolator to land in shallow water - although its heat sink system does not allow for additional heat dissipation, the lower-slung design would help in protecting it.
Its main firepower comes from a Blackenberg Stattico Large X-Pulse laser mounted in the Torso. With a few production models entering the marketplace only a scare few years before its design, the Idolator was figured to be a showcase for the extended range of the Stattico.
Backup weapons are a pair of standard Defiance B3M Medium Lasers, positively quaint compared to other factors of the design, but tried-and-true. A Small Pulse laser brings in some close-range anti-infantry firepower, and is mounted in the head for instinctive targeting by the MechWarrior.
Variants:
No Variants of the Idolator have been conceived so far. The Idolator itself is such a radical design that it may indeed never get off the drawing board itself. Selling the very concept of "A BattleMech that can almost Fly" borders on LAM territory for a lot of people, and that makes buyers nervous, with the continual drawbacks of those concepts and designs well documented. Indeed, rumors persist that the design concept originally called for an Allied 250 Fusion Engine - made most famous by the Phoenix Hawk LAM.

An interesting design. Have you put it in a game yet? I like it as a raider as much as anything. I'm just not sure if it can out shoot anything it can't out maneuver.

Not yet, I made it up on the spot the other night as a thought exercise in response to the "Hippogriff Main BattleMech" posted by Retry...
It is down in the firepower, but at least it has the range and the accuracy made up in the X-Pulse for the Jumping...
Certainly, its hardly optomised... I think personally, I'd switch the X-Pulse down to a standard Large and go for Heat Sinks and Mediums in response... BUT, that would also not quite fit the idea of a "Tech Design Concept".
And I mean. Its a Quad. Quads are Fun, if a little Silly.
