==Overview:==
As the war against the Word Of Blake and it's horrors had reaced it's peak,
many compaines had begun to cash in on the need for advanced machines of war.
Companies like Cryolis Industries saw the chance to make a fortune on the
backs of those fighting in the countless battles and borrowing from the old
adage that your enemy can be your best costumer, they sold to both sides,
which never came to light till many decades after the Jihad had ended and
something the company still denies.

Enter the Auphan AHN-5R, a fast medium hunter killer, which has an average
payload, but an impressive one for killing vehicles and lighter mechs found in
the hands of most raiders and mercenaries. Using it's many facets of social
media as well as larger PR firms, Cryolis pushed the Auphan every chance it
got. Video feed of the mech in action was shown all over know space as well as
on Solaris where the mech was seen in action first hand in the fight to take
the planet back from Blackist forces.

Holy Ranged Critseeking!

Very interesting, to base a 'mech on a pair of RAC/2s... Its like what the Blackjack always wanted to be...

I'd look at it, and I personally hate RACs, so that's got to say something...

I was just working on a similar concept myself....

I really need to look at the rules for rotary ac/2.
Thank you Karagin, for not making me the only person who seems to like to put ac/2s on 'mechs. Despite the fact they are heavy, have a minimum range and do so little damage, they have very good range and are somehow still so much fun to play with. Especially against tanks.

As Stated, I dislike RACs (Maybe its my Steiner Heritage)... But, I was impressed enough to do a potential field refit. Hope it doesn't tread on toes

Heretic BattleMechs, impressed with the Auphan's reliability at killing
vehicles and light 'Mechs at range, attempted to provide a field refit in
3075.

The 270 Rated XL Engine was replaced with a 225 GM Light Fusion Engine,
attempting to increase the survivability of the BattleMech. Its speed was
hampered with the design modification, however it was hoped to still be able
to engage enemies at range and punish them long before they got to a killing
range on it.

All other aspects of the BattleMech remained the same, save the second
external heat sink being slipped to the Left Torso after it was found to not
be integral to the smaller engine.

Both RAC/2 models have a relatively moderate weight for the damage they deal. No model of RAC has a minimum range, and the weakest one deals an average of 8 damage on a successful hit, with an absolute maximum of 12 damage. The Inner Sphere version of the RAC has range brackets comparable to the AC/5, which isn't that great in advanced tech, although the clan version has range brackets identical to an IS light gauss rifle w/o a minimum making its range brackets slightly superior to even the clan ERLL. The RAC/2 isn't quite the same as a stock AC/2.

Hmmm, not really quite the same as ac/2s. Oh well. I still like the design. Thanks for the info retry.
