Fluff:
==Overview== The Fire Wasp was designed for the express purpose of hunting other light 'Mechs during the Succession Wars, using superior speed and equal firepower to become an efficient all-purpose BattleMech.
==Capabilities== A powerful LTV 160 Fusion Engine propelled the Fire Wasp at speeds exceeding those of the original Wasp or Stinger, and matching those of a Spider or Locust, carrying a ton of armor more than the Spider, even though the SDR outweighed it by 10 tons! However, it lacked any jumping capability. A generalist, jack-of-all-trades armament was selected, including a centerline Small Laser, a right arm-mounted Medium Laser, and opposite that a Flamer, for incendiary and anti-infantry purposes. Ten single heat sinks kept the 'Mech cool. Also of note is the fact that the Fire Wasp has hand actuators on both arms, allowing it to brawl with some effectiveness against other light 'Mechs.
==Deployment== The Fire Wasp quickly became popular in the Draconis Combine to work alongside the Panther, the larger PNT's jump capabilities enabling it to maneuver into terrain that would normally hinder the Fire Wasp, while the Fire Wasp roved ahead, clearing a path for the slower Panther with its Flamer through forests and the like, supported by the Panther's guns and missiles.
==Variants== Fire Wasp GB-20: A popular field refit to increase firepower, removes the Flamer and simply replaces it with another Medium Laser. Fire Wasp GC-20-P: A refit of the venerable Fire Wasp done in the 3060's, replaces the Flamer and Small Laser with an arm-mounted RL-20 for incredible one-shot striking power.

Interesting. You've got some wasted armor, but peeling back that last half ton takes off 5 useful points. But if you do that and dump the small laser, you can think about another medium laser or jump jets

Might have been easier just to pull the mg's of a locust and add the flamer. But having hand actuators comes in handy at times.
With the same range, dropping the half ton of armor and the small laser, you could add a second flamer or medium laser. Anti infantry unit, would say the second flamer.
Now the 3060's version could use ferrous fiber armor to gain those points back. Add to cost, but it shouldn't really be that bad for the tonnage.

Flamer seems a bit out of character, but at the same time it does add something different.
