The Firewalker is the fourth and currently last mech created for the Jotun Project. Designed to be almost completely impregnable to enemy attacks the Firewalker is based on a earlier failed project to create an assault mech to attack the strongest point of any defence and break through it.
With almost 75 tons dedicated to armour protection and with most critical components being heavily armoured and reinforced versions, the Firewalker can absorb incredible amounts of damage without being impaired. Unfortunately this armour means the Firewalker moves at a very slow pace compared to other designs. Also because so much space is dedicated to protection the available weaponry is considered somewhat inadequate for a mech this size.
Although the Jotun Project generated a huge amount of buzz, sales have been slower than expected. Most smaller units cannot afford to run such mechs, while the Inner Sphere powers already have their own superheavy programs under way and prefer to rely on machines of their own specification as was proven with the Ares and the new Wolf Dragoons superheavy.
While successful in the field so far, the Jotun Project may well be the millstone that drags this company into the deep end for good.
