what is the quantity that goes with alot?
Looks usable. Any suggestions on what fighters or dropships you would put on it?

It depends a lot on the era and mission. In general, given the meager supplies of the Defender, I would tend to want fighters that were heavy on energy weapons and dropships which had considerable cargo holds to augment the ship's supplies.

My question is, whats the point to the small craft cubicals when you have no doors for them? Your allotment of doors was used up by your fighters.
Why argue if the glass is half full or half empty, when you know someone is going to knock it over and spill it anyways.

I may misunderstand how things are set up on a station, but couldn't the small craft use the fighter doors? I would think it leads to a bay with the space craft in them. I would think they do not require their own special doors, though that may be the case. Granted moving one from the fighters to the small craft might be in order.
What class of warship would this be considered? Is it a frigate? Scout? Destroyer?
The cargo doesn't sound like a small amount, but then warships are not something I know well enough to say one way or another.

Its not well armed like a true war ship so I would say its a scout class.

I see no space of extra supplies. He covered the basics and no more. This warship would need the dropships to carry their own supplies because it only has enough for its own needs and no more.

4,500 tons of spare parts (1% of ship wieght). This is on top of the food and water. How much cargo should a ship of this size have to be considered average? I don't have any aerotech other then the original, so this is not known to me.

The launch doors for the Defender were intended to be used with small craft and fighters. If the rules don't allow for this, it is an easy fix to dedicate 1 or 2 of the fighter doors for the small craft doors.
From a tonnage standpoint, the Defender is either a really big Corvette or a really small Destroyer. Given the design's speed, armor and weapons, I'd pick Destroyer for the class of ship.
The ship has an ample supply of food/water and fuel. Without using cargo from its Dropships, the Defender will run into some problems like if naval weapons need to be replaced and/or it runs a lot of fighter missions (fuel).

Well the fuel situation can be fixed by dropships like you said. I would think a fuel tanker with a vengeance fighter carrier would be a good mix. But this is just for your fighter example.
From the name, Defender, it would be assumed it would be more of a local defense warship then one for attacking. That in itself might explain the 'lack of cargo' space as it would be near parts. But even then, I really don't think many warships carry that many spare weapons. But as I said, my knowledge of warships is lacking.
Now if you would, could you explain the difference between a life pod and a life boat? I thought the boat could soft land on a planet. I thought one was a different weight then the other. Or are they set up to carry the same amount of people.

They are fully explained here on the BT wiki.

It could be summarized as, "the pod can re-enter the atmosphere, while the boat can drift in space for longer."

I did look up both in the wiki and it says they have a mass of 5. Now I did not see if that included the launch mechanism or not. Now is that a typo or did they change it in the newer books? Does the launcher weight 2 tons?
For some reason I was under the impression they didn't weight the same as the life boat seemed to be more of a manuevering device then just something to get down to a planet in an emergency.
Just looked it up on the 3057 book and they are both 5 tons. I do believe you may have some more weight to distribute on the ship. Unless tat was changed. It may only be 240 tons total, but that is a big difference in supplies for things like fighter fuel.

The launcher masses 2 tons, so the installed mass on a DropShip or other large vessel is 7 tons. By itself, a pod or life boat is 5 tons.

The life boat is a lightweight, unprotected, non-maneuvering shell, so it can hold people for longer with more room than an escape pod on the same 5 tons. Note the wiki description of the TR:3057 mix-up between escape pod and life boat.

Why the weapons fit? Seems an odd mix if high and low tech, is their a fluff/flavour reason for it?
The 7 LRM rack bays are a bit odd. Two 3 packs bays with FCS would be preferable, but that's just me.
Navy GRs, but standard AC/10s?
