I've found Streaks (and LBXs, to a lesser extent) to be murderous in duels. The lighter weapons add variety, but Streaks have that combination of 9 hexes range (trumping small laser and MG variants), fantastic heat control, and ammo efficiency.

One of my players optimized on fast medium's with improved jump jets and Streaks. They were annoying as crap and crit'd a lot of my behemoth designs to death. The only improvement was to add some hole-punchers like a PPC.

I like your idea of streaks. Thank you. I think I went the standard SRM route because of the capability of specialized munitions. The use of streaks is better though for heat and the smaller launchers hit for the average amount of the larger launchers. In addition, the Clan streaks have longer range although, with the original dueling rules, a standard machine gun can shoot 12 hexes I also added two more ER Small Lasers in case the design ends up in the underwater arena.

I'm not sure how annoying it would be but I'll post a fast, medium 'Mech with Streaks in another thread...
