Overview:
What the FLACKnard???!!?!?!!?!

Capabilities:
The third and final "retro-tech" design to emerge from the JMInc., the FLC-2K
Flacknard is true vintage JMInc. Tipping the scale at 100 tons, the design is
slow even for its speed, matching such lumbering legends as the Annihilator and
UrbanMech. Naturally, the JMInc. designers put the tonnage saved to good use,
mounting a bizarre collection of weapons.

The outrageous weapons loadout is nevertheless impressive; the PPC and AC/5
work well together, and the LRM 10, while the least efficient of the LRM
systems, still provides decent additional damage, extreme range, and moderate
IDF capability. The Large Laser rounds out the long-range systems, doing
double-duty as the primary close-range weapon.

Accompanying the Large Laser in close is a devastating array of lighter
weapons. A trio of Medium Lasers provide solid damage and versatility, and a
pair of SRM 4s wreak havoc with vehicles, as well as exploiting
vulnerabilities. Finally, the Flacknard has nothing to fear from Infantry that
wander too close...no less than 4 Machine Guns are able to butcher entire
platoons in a single volley.

A devastating design...as long as the battle isn't over by the time it
arrives...

MY BLURB:
So a man walked into the JMInc. Customer Relations building, and approached the counter. The receptionist asked how JMInc. could be of service.

The fellow, believing for some reason that he had entered a Zen temple, answered, "Make me one with everything."

Just make sure it does NOT allow the pilot to play pokemon go. With this, you walk thru buildings and step on cars, not just into doors and stop.

On a more serious note, the lack of relying on ammunition feed weapons is nice. With the speed, you won't be running back to base for more anytime soon.
Except for the speed, it almost has a battlemaster on steroids feel to it. Might be the ppc/mg/srm/laser brigade to it.

Well, it does carry 5.5 tons of ammo, 4 different classes. 48% of its firepower is ammo dependent. Although even without the ammo weapons, its firepower is still impressive.

It was a dig on the original atlas. Once lrms are out, a range of 9 was the best you could do. And the annihilator as well.
Hmm. Seems like the canon mechs of 100 tons were ammo hogs.
Well up until the marauder II came out.

The Imp was nice as well. Really though, past 9 hexes you have PPC, Large Laser, or stuff with ammo. Not much room for variety.

Funny. Both mechs were introduced with the dragoons.

Makes me wonder if the only way you can tell an elite unit is they have mechs that aren't a waste of resources?

Well not at that time, but you have to admit. Something moving that slow should not rely on ammo weapons for a long range punch. Hell the original banshee was more suited for long range and lets face it, it wasn't all that good.
Speaking of which, compared to this mech, it has less then half the weapons, which is scary.

Hard part about designing a "good" 2/3 Assault 'Mech is heat control...if you have to pile on too many Heat Sinks, you're better off simply going faster with less firepower.

This one, given the Jump Jets, would probably be best used as a "Paratrooper". Simply low-orbit-drop the thing right into the middle of a fight in progress and let it lay waste to everything in range.

^ This. The tiny engines of 2/3 mechs don't offer "free space" heatsinks like the bigger engines do. A 2/3 mech should be a cannon or missile boat. The Annihilator is probably the best 2/3 design I've seen. (I would swap one AC10 for a Thumper, so you could never be outranged by a faster unit with an AC/2 for instance.)

That design is quite goofy. It's virtually a frankenmech.

Really though, the Annihilator? The stock version's firepower is very thin-skinned.

Although... Hmm...
