Overview: One of many 'Mechs combat-tested by JMInc.'s resident Mercenary Myron "The Mechanic" Blackstone, the Waylander is a one-of-a-kind prototype using the most cutting edge tech available to turn the venerable Assassin design into modern battlefield terror. Nearly every component of the original design has been upgraded, resulting in a much more versatile -- and survivable -- 'Mech.
There is no word on whether the Waylander is intended to reach general production or will simply remain one of the Mechanic's personal 'Mechs.
Capabilities: The defining improvement for this particular schemic was the Stealth Armour; rather than increasing overall coverage as most Assassin upgrades do, JMInc. designers simply made the 'Mech more difficult to hit. The upgraded missile systems work well with this design philosophy; the Extended Long Range Missile rack allows Waylander to engage at much longer range than most 'Mechs, while the MML-3 duplicates the capabilities of both the original systems, and the X-Pulse Laser provides a tremendous increase in effective firepower inside 270 metres. Finally, the overheat that can result from extended use of the Jump Jets and the Stealth system was put to use with the inclusion of a Triple-Strength Myomer system. And of course, the 'Mech's diminutive pilot is perfectly at home in Waylander's cramped cockpit, although other pilots may have some difficulty controlling the 'Mech properly.
Variants: This heavily customized Assassin retains some of the modularity of the original design, making minor modifications relatively simple. The MML Ammo bin in the Right Torso can be easily removed and replaced with an Extended Range Medium Laser. Since this change limits to MML to either Long or Short Range ammo (instead of one of each) it has only been used a couple times, when Mission Intel determined that most of the action would be at close range, but battle reports confirm that the increased firepower was well worth the lost versatility.

MY BLURB: Some of you may remember another design I posted some time ago, also called the Waylander. I don't like reusing names, but the name really is perfect for a one-off Assassin mod.
A friend of mine will be painting (or attempting to) a mini for me using Black 2.0, as long as the paint is suitable for the job. That was my inspiration for the Stealth armour.
Anyway...comments welcome!
Peace is that glorious moment in history when everyone stands around reloading.

First thing that comes to mind is a variant with some more electronics. Tag being a good one for an assassin. Hide. Light up target. Hide. C3 or probe comes to mind as well.
The mml might be better off as a straight srm. The elrm should cover the long range aspect, and if you need more ammo, well the ton used for the mml would be a good addition.
If you don't mind moving away from the assassins primary configuration, putting an erll or some sort of ppc on it would be an idea. Yeah, heat is a problem, but I was thinking more of a strike, cool, strike concept.
One more thought comes from the tsm. Maybe an axe so when you go in for physicals, you can do better. The elrm would make me think range would be your best ally here, which also makes me think the pulse laser would be better as an erml if you stick with range.
Also thought rockets might be a good way to increase the punch, but that is thinking ambush assassin, not sustained combat mech.
