\/ The Fluff Starts Here Folks! \/
\\/ The Courage is a 'Mech for someone with balls. Not brass balls, but great big giant robobo- balls. This 35-tonner was the first BattleMech designed by MiliTech from the ground up and produced completely in house at their time-travelling top-secret underground compound somewhere in the Free Raslhague Republic.
\\/ This 'Mech was designed on MiliTech's "Mercs in Mind" company philosophy, and introduced a revolutionary concept for it's time. The AdapTech Multi-Missile Launcher could be configured before a battle to accept either SRM or LRM type missiles, although it couldn't switch between the two and required a Repair Bay to change which ammo type it accepted.
\\/ A 'Mech ever-bristling with Character, the Courage mounted it's in-house 245-rated Fusion Engine on a special Transverse Mounting Apparatus, giving it a low profile, but also making it's cockpit extremely cramped as a result. Thankfully, MiliTech's well-known Life Support Systems keep the pilot frigid, even when the Mech is melting around them. It even has a popsicle holder!
\\/ Outside of that, the Courage uses the reliable TactiCOM Communications and Targeting System enhanced with patented Quikdraw Multi-Trac Technology. The Quikdraw's Euclid Tri-Point Target Location Processor, linked to an Archimedes Multi-Port Range Finder uses a telemetry lock algorithm to ensure that all of targets get a face full of the sweet nasty your slinging.
\\/ The Courage also mounts a high-powered Searchlight, itself with the same time-tested war- approved BFE Aegis Combat Actuators found throughout the entire 'Mech. Every Joint, specially designed to take a maximum lickin' and keep on tickin'. Although this isn't helped by the fact that the Courage mounts no arms to speak of. Add in the fact that the pilot is sitting on 200 rounds of .32 Caliber goodness with nary an ejection system in sight and you've got one ballsy 'Mech indeed. [And balls waiting to be shot off.]
\\/ Overall however, this 'Mech garnered a certain affection by the pilots who dared to climb into the hot seat. It already took a real man to fight for his C-Bills, it already took a true MechWarrior to do it in a measley 35-tonner, but it took balls to do it in a Courage. A little 'Mech with a lot of character, and more than enough balls to spare.
/\ Fluff Ends Here Folks! /\
Combat Role:
The Courage is a capable vehicle hunter, raider, urban in-fighter, infantry slaughterer [by the regiment even], ambusher, and light 'Mech killer in it's own right. Combining two infantry stand- by's, one Medium Laser and a Missile Launcher to boot, it's a little of everything. 7.5 tons of armor give it the maximum protection it can carry, and it's 245 rated engine can propel it up to a staggering 118.8 km/ph. A truly evocative 'Mech with plenty of character and lots of fun to play.
Design Quirks:
\\Good//
-- Improved Life Support
-- Multi-Trac
-- Narrow / Low Profile
-- Searchlight
-- Protected Actuators
\\Bad//
-- Static Ammo Feed
-- No Ejection Mechanism
-- No / Minimal Arms
-- Cramped Cockpit

Fluff questions first. What time frame is this unit set for? 2747? 3000's? after the clans and WOB jihad? The mml and light mg is the issue for some of the times. Even with time travel spin, if this is before Rasalhague leaves the combine, then house kurita would have the mml. This might change alot of the story before it is invented. If 3100 or later, then I will assume the time is a typo.
Now as for the mech itself. The armor is a bit light for something that deals with urban fighting. The lack of arms will dramatically reduce it's ability to deal with infantry in the city, as most would ambush a mech from behind. The single light mg isn't really good fo infantry slaughterer [by the regiment even]. And for the weight of 2 tons, if not a typo, then using a standard mg with half ton of ammo would give you another ton to work with. Slowing it down some and adding jets might be an option to look at, especially in the city. Having arms makes it a slightly better raider and in fighter. Hard to steal supplies on the run without arms. Cargo nets are such a pain to hook up while people are shooting at you.
It would be decent in the open fields except for the shorter ranges of most of the weapons. With a tag or maybe c3, it could be used as a spotter for other units. Get in and out quickly. Still an interesting story to it.
