After the Clan Invasion the Lyran Commonwealth created a special Mech Lance for top-secret recon and surveillance. The Patcher is the 'Mech that was created just for this purpose. Using Recon Cameras, and other sensor gear the Patcher could gather in-depth intel and relay it via satellite to Lyran Command.
Since only the most experienced Mechwarriors would utilize the Patcher, it comes equipped with a Full-Head Ejection system. The Patcher is adequately armed, and serves Scout/Spotter details for high-profile attacks as well as clandestine Smash and Grabs against HPTs. The TAG allows for Arrow IV support from units in the area and is often used in conjunction with the Patcher's ECM gear for surprise attacks against convoys or outposts.
The Patcher is relativiely unique as it is only maintained in limited numbers in pone Lyran BattleMech Lance known as the 36th Cloak and Dagger.
