Overview:
Designed to fix many of the problems of the Atlas (mostly speed, and weapon
range) the Aggressor was one of the first post-Star League mechs to include a
newly designed, fully integrated communications suite for officer-level units.

The first prototypes of the Aggressor were built in 3058 and sent to
prospective customers for trials. One of the most unusual features was that
the mech was constructed on Mars with the last prototype being shipped only a
few months before the Word of Blake conquered the Terra system.

Capabilities:
Armed with a varied arsenal of energy weapons, backed by a highly effective
LRM-15 launcher, the Aggressor has a better than average combat range compared
to earlier assault mechs, better mobility and most essentially better cooling.

Although it can easily overheat, the Aggressor is potentially devastating in
the right hands. To pre-empt overheating, the mech uses a triple-strength
myomer that only allows it retain mobility when running hot, but has also
caused a shock when enemy mechs tried to get into close combat, especially when
they though their 100-ton mech had an edge of the Aggressor.

Later versions added light ferro-fibrous armour to increase the armour
protection closer to the maximum level.

The communications suite allows an officer to keep track of his unit while
operating the mech, allowing commanders to remain close to the action with a
better overview.

Battle History:
The Aggressor was offered to most Successor States and was well received when
the Word of Blake threw a spanner in the works. Being an independent company
the designers refused to cooperate with the new rulers. The standoff lasted
for weeks until a Word of Blake negociator ordered his bodyguards to grab the
company's director and violently beat him up, resulting in several crippling
injuries. One of the lead designers had his head smashed in with a table lamp
for having been an outspoken opponent of the Word of Blake and several others
were taken away and sent to a reeducation camp.

The Word of Blake set out to produce the mech for its own purposes, but a
failsafe system caused significant delays to the point that a major Word of
Blake official threatened even more violent retaliation when the widow of the
designer detonated a suicide belt killing dozens of Word of Blake personnel and
starting a major fire that severely damaged the factory. It took the Word of
Blake until 3068 to rebuild the factory.

At this point the Aggressor was seen as bad luck and all mechs produced for the
Word of Blake remained on Mars, serving as garrison for the last ditch defense
against Devlin Stone's militia.

When the first new Aggressors were put up for general sale in 3090, sales were
low as many branded it a Word of Blake design. A feature film and an elaborate
marketing campaign designed to dissociate the Aggressor from the Word of Blake
meant that sales picked up in the early 3100s. In 3122, it was announced that
the Aggressor was now a profitable design, nearly 75 years after it was first
introduced.

Deployment:
The Aggressor was kept on Mars and was used extensively by the defending Word
of Blake militia troops to resist Devlin Stone's forces.

After the Jihad, the mech slowly built up its sales potential. Its rugged
design, excellent handling and superior command and communications suite made
it appealing to many customers across the Inner Sphere.

The mech can be found mostly with Davion and Kurita forces and the Terran
Republic as well as various mercenary units including Wolf's Dragoons.

Variants:
The Aggressor has a few minor variants, one replaces a medium pulse laser with
a pair of flamers for incendiary and anti-infantry work. Another drops the PPC
in favour of a second ER Large Laser and two extra heat sinks. A special
command version drops the ER Large laser altoghether and replaces it with a C3
system or a detachable command module.

Nice...what a 90-tonner should be. If I remember my table properly, you actually gain an additional 0.5 ton if you increase to 95 tons for a bit more armour, better physical attacks, and hide an extra DHS in the engine, which allows a bit more room to play around with trading the LPL for other stuff. At a much higher price, of course.

I'd make few modifications to suit my personal use, mainly because I prefer bracket-firing over designing for PPCs to be used in close, but that says more about my taste than the 'Mech itself.
Peace is that glorious moment in history when everyone stands around reloading.
